Docking computer? I will be visiting the many bases between Sol/Colonia.

Or AFMU? Whilst I will visit the bases... There's times I won't.

What say you?

Well, I don't know what all your other modules are (or even what ship you're using), so it's hard to say. Off the cuff, though, I'd go for the AFMU.

AFMU is fine, but only worth having if you plan on using (frequent) neutron/white dwarf boosting. If not, it really serves no purpose.

Aside from that, my "must haves" for exploration (aside from the givens) are SRV (x2) and SLFs. SLFs are great for scouting around and generally just having some risk free fun once and awhile caynon running & working on GA OFF skills.

ok, so:

it must be a Cobra III.

It must have: shield (size 4 slot), scoop (size 4 slot), Advanced discovery scanner (size 2 slot).

It most probably has a SRV (guess 2 in a size 4 slot)

that leaves two size 2 slots for a choice of - AMFU, Rack, detailed scanner, auto docker.

Never an easy call. how important is the cash you make for the detail scanner?

Auto dock you really don't need, its not hard to dock a cobra.

Learn to dock and buy an AFMU. Because everyone zones out on occasion, and if that happens in hyperspace...

No, I have cargo where there might otherwise be a DSS. I don't care about the cash.

This ship is... Odd. I have a plan... Just not ready to go public with it yet.

What I will say right now is it's part of my adventure-seeking game play.

Convenience versus a potential lifesaver? I'd definitely take the latter. Especially since it sounds like you will be spending a lot more time away from repair facilities than you will be spending close to a docking pad.

Yeah you're right. What I've got planned... Lots of planets to visit, and... Hmm, yeah. You're right.

Docking computer is only useful if you're flying a space brick. If your ship is medium or small, or moderately agile, go for the AFMU.

110% Take an AFMU, using as many Neutron Stars as I could find getting to Sag A* in my exploraconda I had to repair my FSD a good 4-5 times if not more each way. Otherwise I got to and from with most modules at 98-99%

Docking computer is completely pointless, I know some people just like the convenience so they can go pour themselves a drink or use the bathroom while the ship does its thing, but many of us see it as a waste of a module as you can dock yourself much quicker, and not have to worry about the auto dock bugging out and coming back to an insurance screen lol.

Learn how to dock a large ship and you will never need a DC ever. After learning how to dock my Corvette, I only ever have a DC now for convenience while doing other things.

DSS is more than cash. It shows you materials on planets, which is great for replenishing your synthesis.
