Ships Non-Engineered Build ideas?

Hey all,

I'm looking to get that Pre-Engineered FSD 1 that I can get
from a Human Tech Broker as long as I have the materials.
  • Datamined wake exceptions
  • Tellurium
  • Electrochemical Arrays
  • Chemical Processors
I have a Python, however I am thinking of buying a different ship
to accomplish this with. I'll then use the FSD in my Python to do
Passenger Missions and or Exploring.
I have about 500 million to play around with btw..

Any ideas / tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks !

Seeing as there are lots of different ways to get materials best to use a really good alround ship, which you already have 😜

A DBX with SRV or and ASP-X both have decent jump range. For manufactured you can farm Dav's Hope (not sure if that does work in Odyssey/Live anymore).

Datamined wake exceptions
Pain in the rear end, get Adaptive Encryptors Capture from Jameson Crash HIP 12099 - 1B and trade out (still painfull)
Tellurium
HIP 36601 - C 3 b - in the hills
Or Bug Killer, crashed Anaconda in the HIP 16613 system on planet 1 a
Electrochemical Arrays
Davs Hope still or even better get from Robby Mines by trading out with Exquisite Focus Crystals
Chemical Processors
Again i would trade out with Biotech or EFC from Robby as the G5 in the Chemicals line (Pharmaceutical Isolators) is another real hard one to find.

Do you have an example of a good build for the Python? Right now I have it
built for mainly cargo with an extra 32ton fuel tank. So I'm guessing I'd need a
vehicle hanger and an SRV preferably a scorpion. and a collector limpit controller?
Anything else I should get?
Thanks again..

Thanks for the info man !

It depends on the method collecting these materials. You could get Electrochemical Arrays and Chemical Processors by shooting ships, but see @Darrack for other ways.

Here is a basic little Dolphin with a decent jump range. You can collect Datamined Wake Exceptions with the Wake Scanner (tedious), Tellurium with the SRV, and the other two with limpets (e.g. from signal sources). Using a material trader to trade high grade materials for lower grade materials is usually better, though.

(Edit: changed the Coriolis link)

Drop the additional fuel tank and take a fuel scoop instead. The Scorpion SRV doesn't have a wave scanner, which can be pretty useful for finding materials. So better take a Scarab. The collector limpet controller makes collecting materials from signal sources much easier. Be sure to take one that can control at least 2 limpets at the same time, it really saves time.

The Python is probably not the best ship for collecting materials, as some smaller ships (like the Dolphin and the Diamondback Ex.) have a higher jump range and are easier to land on rough terrain. The can't take many limpets, though.

Saved.. I may get the Dolphin..
Thanks !

Not sure what engineering you have access to but this is a basic one without the guardian stuff, FSD range engineering is pretty much needed for serious RAWS farming as it can be 1500LY out.
Basic Python

I actually use a Keelback for RAWS
RAWS and Flowers finder

If you want to make life real easy build a python for Robigo mines passenger runs and never worry about g5s again.
But you need a tad bit of engineering and the FSD Booster for a 2 jump ship.
Robby Runner
Many folks have a build for this but as someone who has done over 8000 runs the shield can help when you accidently hit that nav beacon!
And the docking computer is a must as you will get bored and it actually speeds the runs up.

Very true but most of the RAW sites out at HIP 36601 can be done with an Annie and Bug killer defo can be landed next to with a large ship.
Asp EX and Keelback are my favs due to easy crystal tree spotting though.

Just to clear here, I my only goal is to get that Pre-Engineered FSD from
the Human Tech Broker. Not planning on much more mining or anything.
I'll put the FSD on the Python and do Passenger Missions and some
exploring...

If I'm going for mats I tend to use my Cobra.
Far more manoeuvrable than the Python easier to land and a joy to fly.
Throw on the relevant kit, SRV, wake scanner, surface scanner, and you're good to go.

Here is a maxed out Dolphin for some day in the future that short of a Thargid War Zone is designed to gather any ship, suit, weapons, Guardian and Thargoid materials in the game. It has a fast pitch rate when logging to repeat High Grade Emissions material gathering and a small footprint to land anywhere. Also great for data deliveries, HiRez combat with NPC support for amassing credits and exobiology all for about 18 million credits and a lot of engineering.

Just some ideas for when that day comes.

I know, people say that lot, but I've played this game off and on since
it came out and I have the below ships, none have any engineering..

Fer-de-Lance
Python
Federal Corvette
Anaconda
Imperial Cutter, and of course the Sidewinder Mk I

I am thinking of the Krait Phantom to do this collecting series however..
Anyone use the Krait for materials?

Kraits are amazing ships for material collection, especially for looking at ground stuff.
I would go for the Mk2 though as it has better slots for multi role tasks (Phantom has better range).
The only reason i dont use one is i have too many of them (core miner, exploration, settlement raider), if i dont use something else it gets boring.

I think I was mainly using the Krait mkii during the early engineering. It's a good mission runner and pretty close match for the Python. Easier to scoop mats due to the flat nose and can go toe to toe with most opponents.
