Non-Engineered NPCs

For the love of god, for those of us that do not want to Engineer, we are more or less being forced to once we hit Master combat level.

And of course what happens with Deadly and Elite combat NPCs? Engineered weapons. So my 2.5 million space buck insurance claim hits.

This simply isn't right nor fair. I don't want to engineer. I don't want to mine. I don't want to explore. I just want to travel the galaxy, picking off pirates here and there.

The "official" recommendation is to get closer into the center of the bubble and fight lower level NPC's in low REZ areas.

That's silly.

We shouldn't be forced to engineer. And those that think a non-engineered A-rated FdL can compete with an engineered NPC FdL, you really don't play much.

Those of us that don't engineer shouldn't be forced to face opponents that do engineer. FF is over 270 LY from me. I have no desire to make all those jumps, let alone buy a ship that CAN make that, nor find/buy the meta-alloys. And thats just the start of it.

Let us have fun in the way we want.
Want to travel the galaxy, but not more than 250 ly?

get a bigger ship I guess

Unless something changed with the last update I don't see NPCs using engineered weapons or any effects. Being combat Elite I always get interdicted with Anacondas and Type-10 Defenders if I'm bored and want to take them on. They never have effects on their weapons which I can easily tell versus PvP players. Ever seen a NPC firing a torpedo with reverberating cascade to take out shields? Nope. PvPers love this in a wing. Thus the warnings a player gets with heat generation or whatever are still possible with standard weapons. Then the solution is to have the right ship build and load out to deal with them. Deadly and Elite NPCs also love SCBs up to about 10 and they seem to have no heat problems using them. That could be considered unfair but it is not engineering. Given time a fast Cutter or Corvette with long range beams resolve this without taking damage.

As a player combat Elite ranking increases so does the NPC enemy they will take on. NPCs don't miss much with rail guns and plasma accelerators. It takes thrusters, distance and speed to avoid them. Without taking at least a grade 3 engineering a player's success to combat Elite is not going to be easy. Felicity is the easiest starting point having more diverse upgrades to start. Next is grade 5 thrusters which makes dealing with NPCs pretty boring even in a trading build. As I see it the introduction of engineers was a brilliant edition to get players to try other play styles of the game that they would not normally try. But if a player has no desire to even check out the engineers versus how they make their personal rules and limit how they want to play the game then good luck with that! The game doesn't care about your rules.

In real life I had to deal with corporate executive's egos wanting a computer to do what they wanted it to do without realizing that the computer didn't care. Taking advantage of a computer's abilities was the key to success. It works pretty much the same playing Elite Dangerous.

Well put Mohrgan, I`m Glad they changed Engineering, the old system was flawed.

Now mat gathering and trade material is almost perfect, dam traders charge too much though 🦎🦎🦎
