Non-trasport train/monorail, skyride

This is my first post so I want to start by saying that I'm loving the game so far.

One thing I'd like to see is either a modification to the existing train and monorail, or a new version, that will function as a ride in and of itself instead of merely as transportation. Lots of real parks have scenic trains or monorails with only one station, but if you try to build that way in game you get a 0 excitement rating and guests won't ride it. A great way to do this would be to have a miniature train (similar to the C.P. Huntington or Chance models) and an open-air monorail that can be used as scenic rides.

Also, skyrides (both gondola and chairlift types) would be awesome, also with the option of being either transportation or scenic rides.

When I set up a Steam railway with just one station, people won't ride it, saying there's nothing to use it for! Please fix this!

That is because it is a Transport ride, they don't use it for anything else than traveling from A to B.

But as there is no B in your case they won't use it.

It is possible if you have at least like 12 different rides in your park. Position two stations throughout your park strategicially where your guests may want to travel to (area close to good rides, shops, scenery). Have some twists and turns during the ride. Don't make the queues too long.

I have a park with a little over 20 rides, including a monorail with 2 stops (a total of 3 stations, and lots of people take it to get to the different points of my park faster than walking), 5k guests. I play on ultra settings 1080p and get 26-40fps (I have a pretty good PC with a quad core i7 and GTX 1070). The guests are so excited when they ride the monorail, you should here them...

Another idea would be like build a Jurassic Park/World kind of park, put some dragons and monsters from scenery. Put in some rides. Perhaps ads some tunnels too.

As for gondolas and chair lifts, I'd love for this to be in the game too.

He said "Please fix this" not "why does it do that" it would be nice to have a choice

That's just it, even if there is no B,they should still ride it as though it were a gentle ride.

So it's not in need of repairing but added functions.

Fixing = repairing.

If it ain't broke....

Would you say the same thing when comparing a unicycle to a bicycle or a car?

Or is that you just dont consider monorails a major importance to you?

Is this different than how people treated transport rides in RCT3? Are the people smarter now in Planet Coaster? In RCT3, didn't people treat trains, etc. as just rides and not necessarily ride them to get to point B? So in RCT3 you could have a train ride with just one station and people would ride? But now nobody will ride a transport with just one station? Will anybody ride round trip in PC or do they all get off at the next station? What if you made a second station with no way out, the path goes nowhere just connects with a queue line to get back on the train.

yes

depends on what you consider "smarter"

yep

usually they have a specific destination

What if you made a second station with no way out, the path goes nowhere just connects with a queue line to get back on the train.

nobody would ride

Frontier made a big deal about transport rides actually being for transport, because of all the clamor from the days of Rct3.

Maybe transport rides are coded as paths in the peep flow system, and they can't just add a tick box to turn it into tracked ride? Maybe the easiest way is to offer train tracked rides, in the tracked ride tab.

On the other hand, just make a second station on the other side of the park, and have two differently themed train rides. You can pretend the peeps are paying attention to your scenery. After all, what's better than just one scenic railway? That's right. Two of them!

it shouldn't be that hard, look at the train in the Oak Island scenario. there is only one station and peeps are riding the train.

Here's something you can try. Use the mine train and build a flat track layout, using drive tires on most track sections. There you can have just one station and people will ride. The mine train looks like a mini train but the cars don't have roofs. I guess you could simulate a kiddie train with the mine train.

Its annoying how we cant switch trains on a track and now were going to have 2 sets of transport rides?? I really hope the devs can find a way to bring back the chair lift with its simple turn around stations. I also wonder if well ever get any boat rides

there is clearly nobody riding the train on this scenario, which in fact shows poor game design [down]

That was the only scenario I have not played, I beat every one except those 3 chief beef scenarios. My favorite was called golem, it had a big monster made of terrain with a monorail going to 4 areas in the park. I wish there were more scenarios like that one

My peeps love my monorail. [big grin]

In Planet Coaster 2 the big train now requires you to have a minimum of two stations to open the ride. You can test it though. Some parks have trains with just one station for a round trip ride. This change makes it impossible to have a round trip big train in PC2.
