Newcomer / Intro Noob CMDR

Hey all,

I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm a new CMDR, this is my third day playing. I spent the first couple of days running missions in my sidewinder, and did a tiny bit of exploring and trading too. Today I discovered bounty hunting and whoah! Is that lucrative or what? I spent the better part of my play time today popping hulls of wanted NPCs. :D

I see a lot of people saving their money and buying better ships. I decided instead, for now, to upgrade my sidewinder. I'm finding it to be quite a capable little vessel for bounty hunting. I've increased its frameshift drive and other components making my range a little higher and expanding my horizons a little bit.

I am thoroughly enjoying this game right now. I haven't even scratched the surface yet.

Welcome, Commander.

That's exactly what I did: outfit my sidewinder and bounty hunt in it. Of course bounty hunting was a little light in the paycheck dept. back then, but it was still a solid choice.

In case you haven't picked up on it, when it's time to upgrade if you're going to trade in your sidewinder towards the upgrade then it's a solid idea to sell off its modules first. Selling individual modules gets back 100% of what you paid for them, selling them attached to your ship is done at a 10% loss.

I love the Sidewinder - it's such an awesome (and cheap) little dancer of a ship. Floats like a butterfly, stings like a (slightly angry) butterfly. But SO much fun to fly!

For a bit of fun later in the game, when you have a T6, buy a Sidey and A-grade it (~1.5m credits). You'll have a blast in the Sidey.

Welcome CMDR!!!

You will have tons of fun in that ship...is very versatile! And yes, rightly equipped you can do anything you want from mining, to trading, to combat, to bounty hunting...probably not a good idea going pirate with it hehe..and definitely exploration!!

CMDR R4nger became a legend by flying to the other side of the Galaxy in only his sidewinder! So yes!! Is a little awesome warrior!! Enjoy it!! And welcome again to the Galaxy!

The Sidewinder is such a great little versatile ship to start with.

My recommendation is to think about your next ship as a Cobra as it feels like the Sidewinder's bigger brother...

Welcome Cmdr :)

Even I still have my original Sidey parked at Eravate, and I spent a good 800K on her. She is all A class and I still take her out from time to time for some fun. I will never get rid of her.

Fly safe cmdr!

Been about two weeks for me playing, doing pretty much just trading, and killing a few pirates along the way, this, however, is my first post into the forums...

I've upgraded most of the systems in my Sidey, and I'm going to take them all the way to grade A before I get another ship, then cash them in and then upgrade the new ship.

Gotta save up for that Adder! ZOOMZOOM!

I agree with the Adder as next ship if you are enjoying the Sidewinder.
Sounds like you have done, a little combat, a little trading and a little exploring. I see Sidy->Adder->Cobra->Asp as the multi-role path. All are very capable at combat, can carry some cargo and can explore (the Adder was described as a lightweight explorer in the newsletter I think).

Question is do you sell your original ship, the Sidy, let you have a taste of all the carriers?

Right now I am enjoying the bounty hunting role. I do plan to do deep space exploration and trading as well. I'm building a nice little nest egg and not in any rush to progress here. I'm a 'stop and smell the roses' kind of guy. It's all about the journey.

Welcome Commander. Good to hear you're enjoying the game. I agree it's all about the journey...lotta things to do and good ships to try. Take your time and enjoy them all
