Noob Help Pilot Licence Stage 4: Travel tutuorial not working

Hi!

New player, game looks great but so far the tutorials are awful and need a huge overhaul, big barrier to new players getting into the game which is complex.

Anyhoo

I launch as asked, speed up and then it says press C to charge fsd, so I do and nothing happens, far enough away from everything but nothing (it is bound), no more messages, so I try hitting 'J' is charges fsd and I enter in system travel, then it says select system in galactic map (no instruction on how, just to do it, which is the problem on all the tutorials), so I press 1, selected Gal Map, no more info so I just guess, my mouse seems to run this menu and I can click on select destination and then I click on the highlighted system, nothing shows I have locked or selected it in the info screen, so again I guess and hit exit, then I press 'C' as previously instructed and nothing happens, I press J and it says I cannot drop as too fast and that is that, no more on screen hints, no instructions and no jump!

Any help really really appreciated, I would luv to get into the game, I just have to get past the lack of knowledge.

++ I have searched the forum and google with no help, again wiki and other sources just say 'select destination then jump' of course the do not say HOW to do that which is what beginners really need. I know it sounds noobtastic to you all as you have played so long, sorry!

I had to manually bind a key for either super cruise or system jump (I forget which) in this build. Hit escape, options, controls and scroll down a long way to find the option (look for J in the bindings, both FSD modes are next to each other)

So long as the game gives you no red triangle warnings when you try to jump, it should work fine. That is likely the problem.

That's a problem with the 14-7 flux forced induction coil. Your jump drive has a 36,000ly/36 month limited warranty. Please see your local participating sidewinder dealer for repairs.

It might be a bug with the tutorial then, in the final beta on Friday they changed super cruise and system jump from one key to two separate keys. It sounds like you have done everything correctly. Have you tried jumping to another system in normal play?

IIRC, the tutorial simply teaches you to jump to another system and fly in super cruise to a destination station where you dock.

Just a heads-up if you have not, you enter a new system pointing nearly at its star, so throttle back and pull away from the star before looking for where you want to dock.

I had a problem with Tutorial 4 : Travel, it wouldn't let me "select destination" on the destination system so no hyperspace. I just skipped it after 3 attempts. Selecting hyperspace destination works in Solo & Open so must be a bug with the tutorial.

Have to reply to add - my tutorial has perpetual hyperspace - i select destination and engage, and once i enter hyperspace it never ends and i never get where I'm going. Going to skip, but would have liked practice entering a new station...

Practice in solo play. If you crash and die you come back with the same ship and 1000 credits instead of 100 lol.

There is also the option to reset your character under options from the title screen (in case your antics got you fines/bounties).

Edit: do the target practice until you are totally happy with the controls and then do the first couple of combat missions at least before you play for real.
