Newcomer / Intro noob q: can you explain to me about the repair page?

I want to know what is the difference between 'cost' and 'unit cost' in the repair page of the Starport services?
I have a bad feeling that I'm missing some really obvious simple explanation as I tried a quick search and couldn't find anybody else asking about it!
and I also noticed that the amount of cr that is removed from my cash is always different to either of the two costs! (always slightly higher than the cost) i.e. my paintwork is 10cr unit cost and 5cr cost but it will probably skin me 6 or 7cr if I choose to repair it.

I'm not sure anyone ever reads 'repair page' as most logical (& quickest) way is repair all in front page in starport services

'unit cost' means you'll fix a small, fixed, ammount. Same with ammo: you can completely re-stock, or only buy one unit (eg. 100 bullets).

yeah but if that's the case then how come it's a higher amount than the cost like in the example I gave? does it get lower in relation to the cost if you need a bigger repair?

repairs can be expensive in the larger ships, and if your cash is really tight then it's possible you might have to choose between items - e.g. you can't afford Repair All but your thrusters and one of your turrets are damaged. this screen lets you repair just the thrusters and leave the turret broken so you can fix it later

the paintwork repair function seems to be bugged; even with your ship showing 100% good condition, paint is often at 99% but it usually won't let you fix it

----> thrashed again. i type too slow.

I haven't noticed that myself, to be honest. Will check tomorrow. Don't forget the wear&tear tab. That can really build up when left unchecked.

highlight the paint and then use the left/right function to select 100% then confirm it will repair.
if it's working, that is - most of the time it doesn't, and Paintwork remains yellow in the list instead of turning red like it should. on the times it does work, it usually only charges me 1cr instead of the 10cr advertised.
