I have never been scanned if I did not want to.
It is not that difficult if you know what you are doing.
- The authority ships circle around the entrance most of the time.
- Sometimes they get closer to the airlock when they want to scan someone.
- When they scan someone else they won't scan you.
- Authority ships are not very interested in allied ships. So being allied makes it easier.
- If you hang around in front of the entrance for too long, or do weird stuff, they will come to scan you, no matter what your status is.
- I always line up at approximately 7.5 km in front of the slot.
- I ask docking permission. When that is out of the way, you will have ample time to dock, so do not worry about that.
- I put all pips in engines, rest in shields, or 3 in each. It depends a bit on the ship I am in.
- After I ask docking permission I boost towards the slot. Sometimes I boost 2 times, sometimes 3 times. It depends. You get a feel for it.
- Just before the toaster rack I lower my gear to assist in breaking and glide inside.
- If necessary you can use chaff to delay a scan!
- Never boost when you are right in front of the entrance! In space it is difficult to notice, because you have no point of reference, but
your ship is much faster than it appears to be when you are in the void.
- You can use cold running, but it is not necessary.
- Outpost are easier, because in general they have less security. There are exceptions though. I encountered some military outpost that were well guarded.
