Powerplay Noob question about power play.

How do they work? I want packhounds and prismatic shields so how do I get them? How do the merits work?

Better yet is anyone here on XBOX and willing to be a "mentor"?

Ok, here's a quick start guide to PowerPlay.
It's crap. Lol

For prismatic shields, you'll want to sign up for Aisling Duval. You'll need to remain pledged for 3 weeks.
You don't need to do anything for those 3 weeks, just carry on doing whatever as normal.
On the 3rd week, you'll need to start grinding merits. You'll need 750 merits by the end of the week to unlock the shields. (PP Week ends Thursday morning)
IMHO, the fastest way is undermining. This is basically murdering hostile ships inside their territory. For best results, do it in an Anarchy System to avoid a bounty.
Bunda or Bhunda? (I forgot) is a Felicity Winters controlled Anarchy system. Fly there with an FSDi and Interdict and kill any ships which, when scanned, say "Felicity Winters". Probably Federal Couriers, or something. You can also visit the nav beacon.
You get 30 merits per kill, so you only need 25 kills. Don't die, or you need to earn them again.
Once you have 750+ merits, return to Aisling Duval controlled systems, and hand them in under contacts > powers on the station services.
When the week ends, on a Thursday morning, if you have been pledged for 4 weeks, and have 750 merits or more, you can buy the shields from outfitting.
Keep your merits above 750 each week to be able to keep buying them. You lose 50% of merits every tick, hence why there's no point doing anything for the first 3 weeks.
Similar trick works for Packhounds, only you pledge to LYR, and attack someone else. I forget who.
