Newcomer / Intro Noob Question - do you always loose every credit when you get destroyed?

Hey together...

have been playing for a few hours now and made my first 20k credits. Finally found some nice trade route (one way) and was on my way back, just some filler scrap in my cargo hold, when i got interecpted. Heard some comm call telling me i should drop the "disk" - what disk? I didn't do any missions (actually i haven't even tried any missions at all)? Didn't even get to see the attacker, my ship exploded about two seconds after the call. So what i thought, only the starter ship, filler cargo, still got all the credits on my account. Nothing to loose - and then i found out i lost even my credits. Played several hours for literaly nothing (actually even less, now i owe some creds to someone...).

So the question:
Do you really always loose anything, even the credits, when you get destroyed? Not talking about the ship, cargo or upgrades - even credits? So you have to start from 0 every time you get destroyed?

If so, i think i'll find something else to waste my time on...

Your credits shouldn't have disappeared. However, there's 2 option when ship is lost
- Pay the insurance claim, about 5-10% of the ship value (exluding cargo). you should get this option if you had money in your wallet.
- Ignore the insurance, reset to basic sidewinder + 1000cr

The 'disk' you heard, I have no idea right now what that could be. Hm, not sure if there's even a voice for anything resembling that.
And it wasn't another player - otherwise you would have manually accepted his incoming voice call, and you would have known.

Money bugs have happened - normally the money is restored if you log out and back in again. Something to do with the server they say.
Perhaps you should try logging out and back in again.

You only lose what is blown up, that is ship, modules and cargo (and bounties and exploration data you hadn't cashed in). You can buy the ship and modules back at a lower than full price, thanks to insurance. You can take out a loan up to 200K I think it is if you cant afford the insurance. You can start in a free sidey again if you can't afford the loan (or take modules off what you are buying back to reduce the price).

Cash in your account is always untouched, other than paying the insurance buy back cost if you choose not to go back to a free sidey.

No, you should not lose your credits that you have cashed in.

You will lose:
Ship & Equipment (pay the insurance to get those back)
Cargo
Any unclaimed bounties
Any unclaimed exploration data
Any unclaimed money you'll earn on turning in missions

If you'd converted your unclaimed stuff into credits, then you should not and would not lose those credits. You can check your credit balance while flying by looking at the right-hand HUD, under your ranks.

That's not my experience. I have only been wiped out once in 2 months, 'm at king it slow and am a chicken. If you take the Sidewinder it's free so no loss of credits for the ship. If you buy back your upgrades it could take your savings. Otherwise, write up a ticket and keep your chin up. It's a great game.

I did log out/in to check, but the money was gone. There should have been about 14k creds left...not a world, but hey, my *first* credits...
Well, thanks for the answers, i'll try again...just hoping this was a one-time-bug.
