Noob Question: Game Stutter

I recently upgraded to a 7700K system with 16GB of RAM and a GTX 1080 Ti on Windows 10 Pro. I'm only playing this at 1650X1080, and the only other app running when I play is when the launcher opens a Chrome page about a missing DLL, but I am still seeing random game stuttering where the graphics appears stuck for a split second and then jumps ahead. It doesn't happen all that often, perhaps once every few minutes or so, but I bought this system to play games smooth as silk, so this is disconcerting to me. My A/V (Kaspersky) says I have no infections.

Does this happen to other people?

Would Windows Game Mode alleviate this?

Are there other settings I'm not aware of that I should check to fix this?

I would like to record a video to show support what I am seeing, but I'm not sure how to do this. (Also, I have an ASUS MB, which I think comes with software for this, but I'm not at all familiar with how to use it.)

Any and all help is most appreciated in advance!

whats the cpu?
recording may make it stutter more.

random stutter happens. depending on scenario. what type of places are you seeing the stutter.
tip,
set your recording software to record to a drive that your os is not on.
what type os drive you use. SSD/HDD
also make sure energy saving is off. set it to max. bios setting
set NVidia to max performance.
let us know how you get on.

i7 7700K, according to the OP.

I blame Windows 10.
now I know. he should have put i7. :(

What NVidia driver are you running? Install the latest drivers for your Intel chipset, and if you have a Samsung NVME SSD then install the Samsung driver for it.

Run the ASUS setup utility for your board and get all the updates. Usually I wouldn't bother with that - but from X99 on that fixes some issues that I wasn't able to resolve otherwise - including terrible USB performance.

Inside stations, outside stations, out in the middle of empty space... there doesn't seem to be a particular scenario or pattern to when it happens.

NVMe Samsung 960 SSD. I just installed the latest Samsung driver for it.

MB is set to Performance Mode.

Did all that.

Our i7 6700k, GTX1080, 4k\Oculus machine stutters and drops frames in the same places as our i7 2600, GTX770 4gb, 1080p machine, I think it's just the game.

have you also set NVidia gpu to max performance. NV control panel, manage 3d settings.
I also prefer to have vsync off

OP. Elite should be smooth as silk on that system. I play on a slightly inferior system in 1440p (Nvidia DSR) with Ultra setting and it's lovely. Only issue I sometimes get is rubberbanding in Open.

Do you get this with any other games / 3D mark etc?

I shall add that with a FX8350, Win10 Pro, Elite on brand new SSD, 16GB Ram and a decent MSI R9 380X 4Gb, I get stuttering when dropping from SC near stations, everytime. FPS can drop from 130 to 28 for a few milliseconds, again and again, for maybe 8 to 10 seconds sometimes.

I have the same system as O.P, this issue is happening to me pretty much every 10 to 20 seconds no matter where or what your driving or piloting, or whatever your doing, dropping out to a station or jumping over craters or turning or roll and pitch......................happening since, update 2.4.03....................

Ps, have played a few other games to see if i have similar issues, worked fine, only has this issue with EDH

Mine only stutters in SC when other players are in the same instance. Assumed it was a poor connection for one of us. I also very regularly get bandwidth spikes telling me someone is in my instance but can't see them. When I check the Comms tab I have a contact with someone but still can't see them. Again have assumed it's my schonky connection.

I also have W10.

I get this too, though only noticed in the last few weeks.
It improved with the latest Nvidia driver but not gone completely.
It's like a little stuttery microsecond jump, I get it in VR and non VR. It happens maybe once a minute at times, other times it seems to go for a while then turn up again after 10 or 15 minutes.
Trouble is, there was an Nvidia driver update around the same time as the last 2.4 update, and that caused more like a screen tear where everything sort of lurched for a split second, when the latest Nvidia driver came out last week it improved to the odd micro stutter I have now, so difficult to pin down if this is just an Nvidia issue or of its still related to the latest patch as I didn't have this at all 6 weeks ago.

1080ti, i7700k, Samsung evo, all latest drivers etc...

Is it doing it in all modes Open/Solo or PG ?

Best bet is contact support, they'll ask for some log files, see it they can diagnose the problem.
