NOOB question!

Hi guys,


Firstly forgive my noob question but how does one acquire the following:

1) Lock on systems (lasers)

2) Guided rockets.

I've basically been hauling the whole time and haven't even delved into combat yet but im wanting to. I have 622,566 credit available if its any relevance

for 1, I think you're looking for gimballed lasers.

For outfitting my ships with decent equipment, I tend to visit Chango Dock at I Bootis.

The kit they sell is randomised, so you don't see everything available, every time you visit. However, if you Save/Exit after docking then simply reload into multiplayer, you'll get a reset list of equipment on sale each time.

Hi there.

As the Captain has said you'll need gimballed weapons to obtain any kind of lock.

For the kit it's a bit random (by design) so if it doesn't appear in the list log out and back in again until it does. Not all kit is sold at all stations though so bear that in mind.

Rockets there too? Im thinking of buying a cobra MK3, then spend the rest on kitting it out. would love guided rockets and gimballed lazers

Im wanting to see if i can ern more credits per hour farming combat zones than hauling

Guided missiles are the default ammo for the class 2 missile launcher.
Dumbfire rockets are the default for the class 4 missile launcher.

Neither can use any other ammo at present.


Beagle2 station also has a good equipment table.

You might consider using the single player missions for some "free" combat practice as well.

Would it not also make sense to spend a night in the basic Sidewinder? That'll minimise the insurance costs.

Just done it, pretty easy farming, just tag and put in reverse....only bought a rubbish single laser to....Defo takes while to get credit that way using a sidewinder! 1 trip hauling usually earns me around 6-10k profit now so insurance is no issue.

I have a cobra 3 which is nicely specced up. I kill lot faster with this, in fact i can get around 5k in under 10 minutes seemingly which i was surprised about.

Im using voiceattack much more in combat, mainly for power/weapons/systems management. Very handy!

He said "combat practice", not "shooting at cows in a corridor"
Try that method on an actual player. You'll have your combat practice right on

To be honest I wouldn't bother with the guided missiles. They aren't that great and are very expensive.

Whats your weapon layout, im also running a Cobra mkIII and im always tinkering with the weapons.
