So im 3000ly away from the bubble, i've fss each planet, but as soon as i've left alittle way from the bubble, i've not found ANY locations, like the geo and bio ones. Am I right in thinking that i don't need to surface scan planets to find locations? I've not needed to before. Surely they don't just have geo and bio ones near the bubble, right? Or am i just super unlucky in not finding locations?

You do need to surface scan to determine the actual locations, or you will have to search for them as we did before the surface scanner
Yeah, as soon as you ask a question... BOOM.
But yeah, you probably just had a string of bad luck. At least for GEO sites, if you pay attention to the inner moons of gas giants, they frequently have some due to tidal effects.
