Noob Viper Pilot. Requests your Help

My 1st time in a Viper since it's release & i'm asking for help with the Viper Weapons loadout but in particular with swapping the weapons

At the moment i have 2 beam lasers in the C1 slots & Muti Cannons in the C2 Slots & even with the best power plant the juice runs dry too quick.

Does anyone have a good way of shutting down the beams [ in the right control panel ] & activating the Cannons without having to select the right panel ?

Is there a VA command that can do this for me ?

Was in my 1st ever Viper battle & lost where my assailant was while fiddling with the right panel

Thx for your replies :D

in the right hand panel go to modules and change the priority on non combat systems like fuel scoop, fsd, cargo scoop. to a number greater than 1. This will allow you to have power to ALL your weapons/combat systems when hardpoints are deployed.

Mind you, it won't allow you to too severely over power your ship's power plant, but it is extremely usefull.

You could also assign the lasers to fire group 1 and the multicannons to fire group 2; that way you can ease of the power consumption when your weapon capacitor is running low by letting go of the beam-trigger.
Also, the lasers are superb of taking down shields, whereas the multicannons are much better at tearing holes in the hull, so these weapons really complement each other :)

edit: typo

You can always transfer power from engines and systems to weapons, will give you more power and increase recharge rate.

Are all your weapons set as primary? I have a couple of fire groups for various configurations, but my primary is always my two beam lasers. Depending on my fire group, the secondary is rail gun or KWS or Discovery Scanner, etc. And as already said, change module priority of non-combat/non-essential systems so if you deploy hardpoints and are using more wattage than your power plant can produce, the non #1 priority stuff will auto-off to free up power. They will auto-on when you retract hardpoints.
.
Try setting beams to primary fire button and your multicannon to secondary fire button. Then you can shoot either one whenever you want without changing fire groups or fiddling with the modules panel.

Thx all ;)

I watch a Guy on Twitch Mercenary Thorrn & he is mainly in a Viper & he always switches his beams off b4 switching to he's rail guns & he always has to select the right panel

i guess that's why i asked here to see if there was a quicker or better way
