Noooooo

I was at the galactic centre, didnt fancy jumping all the way back. Self destructed, took the freewinder, back to the bubble and the ASP is....just gone. It's not there on the ship transfer. I spent AGES engineering it. Is this a bug or is it gone?

If I have read that right, you commit suicide IN your ASP, in which case its gone. The suicide sidewinder technique involves buying a sidewinder and storing you ship at the station, then committing suicide.

All is not lost though, open a ticket with FDev and explain the situation (maybe even include your log of that session when you communicate with them) and they should be able to recover it.

Definitely open a ticket. I accidentally lost a ship once because of how confusing the insurance page is (I meant to pay for it but didn't), opened a ticket and they gave me my ship back. So there's Hope!

If he opens a ticket, Frontier should restore his ship on the condition that he must fly any ship he owns with a "Darwin Award" trophy on his dashboard.
Harsh:) we all make mistakes, some of them stupid, but as long as you don't do it twice... Just not a fan of God handing things like this (that should be limited to fix problems caused only by bugs really, not user error). Either way it doesn't impact my game so whatever works for the OP.
