Nope, can't do it!

So I had a moment of weakness, while trying to rank up with the feds, and too my DBX out to Sothis to do some data delivery spamming.
I flew out there yesterday before work, and did a load of runs for about an hour.
Then logged in this morning, did 2 more runs, and left.

Sorry, but that wasn't at all fun. Lol
I did go fron around 50% Lt. commander, to 81%. But no more! It's too dull. Lol

I did also managed to find loads of rare materials hidden in the mission boards. But I never actually checked whether I go any of them.

Back to ranking up the more interesting, but painfully slow way. Lol

I went out there for Sirius rep and it took me a day. I think I actually came out of it financially worse due to the Donation Missions I did.

I think the trick is not to think about it, the zen trick. Must admit that sometimes I find it hard to apply the trick myself :)

Edit: Netflix helps, does that then qualify it as a Zen tool?

Shame on you. So Sothis runs are still profitable then? I thought they got nerfed a while back.

I'm not sure they are. There's delivery missions that pay 2-3M Cr, but you need to travel 400-ish Ly for them, which strikes me as reasonable. Most of the rest appeared to be normal Data Delivery in the 20-40K Cr region, and assassination missions for 200M-ish Cr.

Ceos and Sothis have federal factions present, and they have courier missions to each other, when both in boom state. It's one of the few places to get fed rep, via good old fashioned mission running.

Yep. I was there for Sirius rep, but I also went from 85% Warrant Officer to Ensign quite by accident.

If you want an interesting, unusual and non exploity way to get Federal rank, try going to Riedquat. The Mob of Riedquat is one of the very rare Federal anarchy factions. You can do illegal missions for them and gain Fed rep.
Ooh, Cool. Bookmarked. :)

My current method is whenever I dock, I check for donation missions, or any ++(or +++) missions going the same way.

I'm at 89% now, and it's far more enjoyable.

That's why I liked Empire rep more, it seemed I found more than just the Wu guinagi - Hip 10716 data missions. I was able to eventually find surface scanning and some skimmer missions that were consistent with rep which broke down that entire monotony. Federation Rep, I just bang my head against a wall. I don't want to do endless data runs, and keep giving up on it, only to return months later to see if any other options pop up and back to banging my head.

I even tried to look for just pure donation missions just to get it over with and couldn't even find a decent source for that anymore...

Yep... if it's a grind, don't do it.

I kind of agree but it's a tough one. If you want that shiny Corvette within a reasonable length of time then some grinding is needed. If you 'just play the game' you'll be waiting a very long time - Rear Admiral is a looong way.

If anyone hopes to reach ships like the iCutter or 'vette it has to be done over a course of often over a year, or grinding has to be involved.

The trick is to find the grind that works for you.

For me, it was CZ missions. Pick a few up in ship with lots of ammo based weaponry, go mash targets, come back to hand any completed ones in at restock, pick up some new ones.

After the first lot of mission stacking there was minimal relogging needed 'cos I was only picking up a few more, and CZ missions typically spawn in huge amounts for the controlling faction.

Casually waiting on naval ranking to be revamped...
