North american grassland = africa?

So I was trying out the different map combinations and expected north american grassland to be a green map with little to no trees and more ground shrubs but uh...it just gave me the africa map lol. With all african plants. Is this a bug or are all grassland maps just africa?

The color of the grass is fine, but I'd prefer if the maps were to spawn foliage based on continent. Not just for your specific case either; for all biome and continent combinations.

Yep, unfortunately the continent is completely irrelevant for the kind of foliage you see. I usually just throw everything out and do the ambient foliage manually, but I would be happier if I didn't have to and already had a couple of trees that actually belong there.

Why would the grass be a different colour? In reality the African grasslands are mostly green for much of the year - if anything needs to change, it's that the grassland biome as a whole needs to have green grass, not that weird yellowish colour that seems to have come from The Lion King.

If we want to be technical, the grass color would change with the seasons, but I'm not asking for seasonal grass. The african biome in the game, as it is now, is fine as far as theme and setting. It's not just from the lion king, it's literally every depiction of Africa (even if that's not how it looks 100% of the time,. IE: the rainy season)

It doesn't make much sense for a North American grassland to share all the same characteristics as an african grassland (savannah) with a totally different climate, even right down to the plants and sound effects. For the sake of variety and individuality, I feel like the different biomes in the different parts of the world should be visually different from each other. It's not only the grassland biome with this problem either

Although I like and support variety, I am not sure how color of the grass can be properly addressed for countless regions across the globe, even if we take seasonal variation out of the equation. To me it feels like it would be too much detail to properly represent all regions accurately in terms of grass color. The average color of the grass can change drastically even across very short distances. Since we are talking about North America in this case, you have both yellow and greener grass depending on region. If we were to pick one it would be positive discrimination as the rest of the grasslands on the same continent would have a different color. This is why I am more inclined towards choosing one generic color globally to prevent such comparisons. That's why I think the current color is fine as is.

I would like to remind that the Grasslands Biome in the game is representative of all of the following biomes:
Tropical & Subtropical Dry Forests, Mediterranean Forests, Woodlands and Scrub, Temperate Grasslands and Steppe, Flooded Grasslands & Savannas, Tropical & Subtropical Grasslands, Savannas and Shrublands; including Tree Savannas.

Since the "average color" of the grass differs greatly even within each biome, it would be near impossible to properly address the entire selection without positive discrimination.

That being said I do think the game lacks variety in its maps and I do want regional variety within the same biomes, particularly types of trees that spawn based on continent. This would be relatively easier to implement as all plant assets already have biome and continent tags in the game and the maps can procedurally generate these plants depending on location. Even temperature ranges can be relatively easy to address depending on location/latitude, but the color of the grass is a much more complex issue I'm afraid.
