For the past year I've been in the habit of naming my ACUs in the same manner WWII aircraft were often named and adorned with nose or tail art. I think it would be really cool if custom nose art could be added into the game. I imagine it working like how custom logos worked in the Homeworld rts series: a certain file type and size dropped into a specific folder by the end-user gets added to an ingame bin to select from. In JWE an addition to the ACU customization tab links to a similar folder for JWE. The selected image file is then applied atop the ACU skin.
