Nostalgia

Greetings

Since I started playing ED I seem to have been infected with a severe case of the nostalgias, I have started watching old sci fi tv shows over again such as:
Space 1999
UFO
Star Fleet
Battle of the Planets
Blake 7

Has anyone else had symtoms?

Yeah - recently rewatched some battlestar galactica (the 1978 series, not the rubbish remake) and some captain future. The battlestar flight model quite accurately matches EDs, actually - lots of reminiscent elements in that show, but maybe it's just me - watched it at the same time I played the original.
The good thing on the Remake...the silence in Space....the worstest thing STARBUCK is a Woman !!!!!!! (ok she looks good...but Starbuck a WOMAN?????)

Yep, a lady Starbuck, and bloody good she is too! Far better than the pretty boy from the 70s.

Meanwhile, back on topic... I just love old sci if TV shows and movies. Especially the B movies from both the UK and the U.S. Quatermass and the Pit. Superb. :D

Well I've not really had an urge to re-watch or watch any old sci-fi but I've been thinking a lot about Babylon 5. Every time I dock at one of the Ocellus type stations I feel like I'm about to dock in B5 itself.

I did dig out The Last Starfighter a few months back and have a watch :)
Also hovering over the play button on Battle Beyond the Stars... hmmm... space cheese, but great stuff nonetheless.... :)

TV-wise, I've watched much of it fairly recently (ie. within the last 5 years) anyway... Blakes 7 included :)

Personally, I am a huge fan of 'Lost in space' , the original series.

I have all three seasons on DVD and still watch the odd one now and again.

I just love the simplicity of it and the fact that it did not take itself too seriously, Jonathan Harris was incredibly entertaining to watch.

Whilst looking through all these old classics i found "Land Of The Giants" ( Nothing directly to do with space i know )
But incredibly effective for its day...Nothing computer generated...
All models made to scale...A slight camera angle used to make them look small all the time......Really clever :)

Other than this i have been catching up on space 1999 :)

I used to love Space 1999, until they introduced that alien woman who could shapeshift into animals. What the hell was all that about???

Ye that was Maya...
Season 2 had actors disappear without any explanation and new ones popped up like they had been there forever ?

Started watching Bionic Woman (Katee Sackhoff's in that one too...) Then went back and started watching "The Bionic Woman." It's much better.

Recently re-watched the first few episodes of Blake's 7 and the pilot for Buck Rogers. Nostalgia isn't always the crack it's made out to be lol
