Not a fan of the supercruise.

Wow, Thanks for this!
Have been flying with this technique for the last hour now.
It's really efficient. I also discovered something by accident:

If you reduce to the minimum super cruise speed (30km/s?) when you get to within 400 km or so then you can approach very accurately to the point.

If you then overshoot it and press the exit button as soon as you can no longer see the target point then it will display a message that says "no target locked, dropping at current position" or something similar.
When you exit into the instance you will be within 4km of the starport. Saves a little time rather than flying in from 20km.

That technique is about how I've been doing it. I max out the velocity for the first half, then right before it will start to warn about going too fast (if you watch the distance numbers you can get a sense of this), I drop it to just below half throttle. Half throttle used to put me right in the middle of the blue and was fine for the whole trip, but now I've found that half throttle is at the bottom of the blue, and that's still a bit too much, so I cut it a bit more. I wait until I get within 1000 kms, and then kill velocity, and the momentum will cover the rest of the distance, but have the final speed be enough that I can command a stop (using Voice Attack) when I see 30-20 kms, and usually come out at a station about 5 kms or so. Once got almost to the entrance, but to the side and had to come around.

Be warned though I once dropped actually inside the ring of the Orbis station and had to make a nifty maneuver to avoid one of the arms :D

That would have been a lovely sight to an observer, with the new flash and drop.
