So after doing the yo-yo dance between the Cobra and the Viper (Cobra's just too big and fat to maneuver under my hands, gets hit too easily, and thusly I suffer more repair/wear and hull loss, whilst the Viper's too limited in range, underpowered, overheated, but actually maneuvers for once and doesnt cost much to run), I'm back in a Cobra, and bleeding credits. Note I can A-grade both ships, so its not a matter of equipment. Both ships were A-grade before and after switching to and from them.
Enough that I'm 200k down and have yet to even break even. Not helping that all the bounties I can find are Sidewinders, Eagles, and the odd Viper with barely 10k on them, and this in a low-security system in a resource node, mind you. This has been going on for nearly a week and a half as of this post, culminating in my most rage-related quitting of a game I've had yet.
I discovered in one of the stations I was passing through an assassination kill mission that I finish very well during the early days of my Viper, when I had such missions to begin with.. That was yesterday, with a ton of empty USS's and duds in between.
Now with 2015 just rolled in, I thought maybe my luck will change tonight.
It did. The kill target showed up. And I was quickly reminded why I disliked how large and fat the Cobra is. It doesnt have the shield to stand up to an Anaconda's array of energy weapons, and so I burnt through all my shield cells in my attempt to do Step 1 of my Anaconda kill plan, which is to kill the drives.
And here's the best part: Second time my shields failed, the Anaconda fired a cow-manure guided-by-Satan-himself plasma shot that hit my drives, taking them from 80% to 0%. I was dead.
I didnt even have time to go into the menu to self-destruct to deny this NPC Anaconda a Cmdr kill.
I'm done. I'm out. This game is becoming unhealthy for me to experience. I cannot in good faith play this kind of game if all it'll do is get my blood pressure up to past comfortable.
