not able to play

Hi guys and girls, I am totally new to this game as I only bought it yesterday. I have not been able to play yet as every time I try to load it,it says 'LOGIN FAILURE, THE GAME FAILED TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE AUTHENTIFICATION SERVER, PLEASE CHECK YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION AND TRY AGAIN IN A FEW MINUTES'
I purchased it through steam and am playing it through a Oculus rift s, my PC specs are well above what is required and there is no problem with my internet, I am running on 100mb ps.
When I take off my headset, there is a black screen with 'invalid token' in the bottom left.
I have tried through steam and launching from the desktop short cut but still no joy.
I have searched the forums for a solution but everything I try does not work.
I am pretty sure its something simple but its so annoying. I have also allowed it through my firewall on win 10.

I hope you get the issue sorted satisfactorily - If you bought a Steam version that has a key (the newest doesn't) you should be able to get a complimentary key for Oculus from your Frontier account page. That way can run ED native in Oculus without the Steam VR layer.

I am also experiencing this problem with the game purchased today from Steam. I have opened a ticket, but was hoping somebody had overcome the problem

Much appreciated! Support replied to me (rather quickly) with:

Thanks for getting in touch with us and I'm sorry that you've had this issue. I think this may be due to your steam account not being linked.
Can you let us know your Steam 64 ID and we can fix this for you. To grab your Steam ID would you be able to follow these steps:

  1. Open up your Steam client and choose View, then click Settings
  2. Choose Interface and check the box that reads, "Display Steam URL address when available"
  3. Click OK
  4. Now click on your Steam Profile Name and select View Profile
Your SteamID will be listed in the URL at the top left (it's the really long number at the end.)

I am hoping to have this resolved this morning so I can start my new career as a space pirate!
