Not all Anarchies are equal

I originally wrote a whole wall of text that I'm sure no one wanted to read. (It was hard enough to proof-read)

So I will try to keep this short and sweet.

Does anyone a) know that the Devs are going to implement...
b) would like to see implemented...

...a wide and differing range or Anarchy systems in game?

Or is the simplistic model of Anarchy = No police, no bounties, wide range of 'illegal' goods available for trade good enough?

What I mean by a 'wide range of Anarchy systems' is that some will be literal chaos, while others will be 'high-functioning' societies of like-minded anarchists, and every step in between.

Hi Vyvian,

Not sure there is a detailed answer, but there is certainly a design document with an overview of how politics has been planned;

It's not too long, and that (and the other design docs) are a great insight into the direction of elements of the game - and it looks fantastic.

Hope that helps a little,

Shorn

There is a jurisdictions system and from digging around in things it looks to be nicely flexible and extensible with different systems being able to have global faction jurisdictions or overrides for that particular system.

So it's perfectly possible with the existing framework I'd predict.

* I have no insider knowledge as Mod and am just speculating based on what I've learned.

There's also this post from Sandro. Was about Space stations in Anarchic systems, but might be of interest to this thread:

Hello Commanders!

We are aiming to increase the defensive remit of most starports in anarchy systems. As has been pointed out, just because there is no governance of the whole system, the starport owners would certainly want to police an area of "neutral" space, preventing direct blockades/attacks within it.

The plan is to allow anarchy system starports to get extremely angry when ships violate their no-fire zone (and this includes hitting ships inside from outside the no-fire zone boundary.

No fines or bounties will be accrued; instead, perpetrators will simply be attacked once they have breached the neutral space agreement.

Of course, outside the no-fire zone is another matter altogether; anything goes. This statement will become more prevalent once ships are able to chase each other through super cruise and hyperspace jumps.

Thanks Shorn. I have read the DDAs and they are great and very in-depth but are also lacking a lot of specifics.

Thanks Fenris Wolf. Hadn't seen that thread.

Strange thing about anarchy systems...

Me and my Anaconda have been hanging around Morgor. Mainly cause of the Colossus NPC and sometimes other Anaconda's with bounty's. There is usualy plenty gold around as well :p

Couple of nights ago I was cruising around and dropped into a USS and there was Mr Colossus. Blew him to bits and as usual some other NPC's turned up at the end of the fight - all "authority" ships. Normaly I would just SC out to the next USS, but I was curious as to know what the "authorities" were doing there, being it was an anarchy system, so hung around for a bit. (might have had something to do with the mission that I've never picked up ).

Anyways, I got scanned - was carrying some gold I had picked up earlier, so was pretty shocked when I recieved a fine for illegal goods. They then proceded to attack me
Not really a problem as such, managed to dispose of them all, but recieved further fines for attacking and murder.

It's been bugging me ever since. Why, if it's an anarchy system, are there authority NPC's prowling USS's? Is it a bug? or am I being a bit thick and missing something? :S

Not complaining though, makes things a bit more interesting :D

This is all being discussed over on this thread in the Beta Discussion forum
