Reminds me of those whales that get trapped in the ice sometimes. If they're lucky they get rescued by humans (or natural shifts in the ice). Did you get out?

One time I was getting annoyed of a bad location when I left the game on the planet surface. I commonly could not get my SRV out from under my ship when I came back on. So, one time I decided to start the game, lift off, land and see what happened. My SRV fell through the surface and started falling at about 2km/sec. Eventually, I just did a quit and save. I restarted and my SRV was on the surface and my ship was waiting to be recalled. Just a minor delay.
