How do you find types of mission targets?

If you mean things like the recover black box missions etc they are found in USS areas in the specified system. Kill pirates is also there, but better at nav beacons in the system.

anything like this is a random encounter - keep dropping into USS until you find the thing you need.

USS = Unidentified signal source.
All well and good when you are talking in a forum that might understand what USS stands for, but new players might not know.
