Not enough credits for rebuy... does this mean its game over?

So I've been flying around in a Python for a while and was getting sick of getting pawned by every other ship out there. Finally came across an opportunity to buy an Anaconda that I could trade up to by trading in the old ship and loadout and with the extra credits I had saved up.

With just enough credits for a modest loadout with some some extra weapons and shielding etc, I was left with just a few thousands credits which I though would take no time to rebuild.

Unfortunately I bit off abit more than I could chew with a few too many baddies in a USS and got destroyed. Now I don't have enough credits for the insurance loan to rebuy the ship. The only option is to revert back to a Sidewinder.

I don't even have enough for the Old Loadout option available as the maximum loan is only 7.5M and I need 11.3M to rebuy. Does this mean I just lost everything??? Start over??? A year and half of playing down the         tube???

This doesn't reset your game stats and stuff though, right, just your credit balance?

Edit: Ninja'd

Yes, and newbie question, I know, but never having to do this myself...

Been awhile since we had one of these topics. Such a crazy thing to do, still feel kinda sorry for the OP.

The only options are take the free sidewinder, or earn the money through CQC, hey at least you'll be a PvP combat ace by the time you have earnt the money back.

Wait, you can't do that for the insurance price, can you? Interesting...

Yes, just your credit balance- in fact you can end up with a fairly big insurance bill left over in some circumstances. It happened to me too, had a good ranking in the Federation and a few permits so I kept the big insurance bill and got into the Sidewinder. Ended up being good fun and really quite quickly I got back to a better situation than I ever was. I didn't make all the beginner errors I made when I started the game.
Stick with it, it'll be fun!

Its possible, in theory, but you earn so little that its way faster to just take the sidey and go at it again. And as you keep reputation/rank and all that, its not that big a deal. Relatively, that is.

You should try if you can afford it if you uncheck all modules ... maybe you can afford the base hull at least.

If all else fails, I can drop you a million in goods to help lessen the blow. I'm in my way to Jaques right now, but the Teabaggers Relief Fund can help you if needed.

If you only get 7.5 but need 11.3 you can always do the insurance and uncheck some parts to get it back at 7.5.

Repped for your honesty and use of logic/common sense.

I recommend getting another Python and making it a stealth trader with D core components except for the FSD, heatsinks, mines, point defense and a strong shield. Always submit, boost away and high wake out of Dodge. Sinks work in SC to make you disappear. Keep an eye on your comms for mouthy pirates and never let them get on your six. Never travel in a straight line but rather loop around to your destination.

Good Luck CMDR and Fly Safe!

you can try to de-select certain modules to try to get the rebuy down to what you can afford
Ninja'd and repped.

It actually makes CQC seem like a bit more of a completing game mechanic to me. Sort of like fighting in the pits to win back your freedom. [up]

Kind of a shame it pays so little as to not really be worth it though, even just for the insurance price.

Unfortunately even deselecting the mods doesn't reduce the price enough, still in the red... Sidewinder is the only option.
.
TBH, I had no idea about the insurance not being sufficient for a rebuy, you'd think that you'd go into debt until it was paid off. Never been in that situation before.
.
Stuck with the Sidewinder hundreds of lightyears from where you were is not very fun. I do have a Vulture parked a long way off, but I'll need to find a way to get to it, obviously this Sidewinder doesn't have the range for some of the jumps, no clear path.
.
I dunno, I'm pretty devastated right now. I'm not a hard-core player like some here, still trying to wrap my head around the Engineers upgrades... only managed 1 mod to my Python in all that time, couldn't find the resources needed for any upgrades, unlike some of you that have done heaps.
.
I just don't understand how a Conda can still get pawned by 2 cobras and a viper. I thought they removed the subsystem attacks... I swear they took out my power plant or distributor straight away, I had no chance of jumping out of there in time.

Might have to hang up the boots for a while I think... too angry right now... this game likes to kick you in the nuts with a baseball bat when you do something silly. Not very forgiving. Can't believe 18 months of playing is virtually down the tube. [ugh]

It sucks , but thats part of the game.

If it means that much you can ask FD to give you your ship back.

EDIT : I dont mean that the feature sucks , its one of the things that makes elite amazing.
However it can hurt when it happens. thats why elite is so good

Yes, you will restart in a sidewinder, but you will be able to advance much faster than the first time.
Experience means a lot in this game.

The rebuy rule is the first rule of the spaceman.
You will never make that mistake again.

Do not give up.
I understand the shock you're in at first, but with some determination you will fly bigger ships again in no time.
You will laugh about this after a while and be proud that you got through it.

EDIT:
Just noticed you have a Vulture stored somewhere too.
That is also a huge advantage compared to having to start with nothing.
