Not fit for purpose

It doesn't know? Like you, it doesn't know until it gets there. It's not changing it's mind, it's not claiming it's not obscured, it's not an autopilot that works the route out.

Yes it's more like a combined lane sensor and cruise control than anything else, it will keep you running at the speed limit and in your lane, but it won't stop at a stop light!

Ok….I’ve since read Wiki on the subject and realise I was wrong to assume it was capable of guiding my ship around planets to my destination station . If I had known this then I would not have bothered to have even installed it, as it’s useless as it is.

Thanks for all the feedback, both negative and negative
:)

SCA is quite good. It's always on my ships that have to do a lot of drop offs at stations or various POI's
Even my CZ Vette has one
Simply because of fast drop-off - go check some YT videos - one of the best time savers when doing point-to-point runs
Also it's orbit feature is nice too
My only disappointment regarding SCA is its lack of a bind key

Regarding smacking you on planets because the station is obscured, that's rather easy so prevent if you take notice of the station orientation on your target display.
Sure, that is not helpful if the destination is a POI on the other side of the planet, but SCA is not a fire and forget thing, it still requires supervision.

Where's the forum fun in that !!? ;)

SCA might not be totally intelligent but can be useful. Wouldn't ditch it forever until getting to know it a little bit.
I’ve got to know it enough to know it’s not for me. As for Wiki, I’m sure to consult that before posting anything in the future. Yeah, will make for more boring posts, but at least I’ll not be hung, drawn and quartered for my thoughts.

I agree, it’s a matter of observing the orientation of stations before leaving the screen. This has been easy when it comes to Coriolis, but impossible for outposts as orientation access is near impossible for me. With that said, I’m sure to be corrected by others who say it it's easy.

You lost all rights to 👆 when you went full Braben. Sorry.

I wish they had made SCA so it went at full throttle until 7 seconds, and then moved into the blue zone. Instead of going into the blue zone from the start. They missed a trick there.

No, they did it on purpose, they wanted a penalty for using assisted travel, and that is that you can only travel 3/4 max speed, they made that quite clear when it was released.

And the full auto functionality is a pita and it wont fly around bodies you need line of start to begin it, and it will randomly not de-throttle when jumping.

At least 2 of these are deliberate to stop botting and afk play.

But the orbit function is the single best assist and is worth it for this alone. Better marketing would call it Orbit Assist with extra features like SCA. :)
