Not getting the mission to become a Lord with the Empire

I've done a whole bunch of reputation gain missions with the Empire Party and I still haven't gotten a mission to become a Lord. What do I have to do?

Also, I'm allied with that "Empire Party" faction.

I'm working on Empire ranks at the moment. Basically, if the station you are at does not have 3-4 Empire factions I would grind that station till you get 1 rank then move to another set of stations for the next rank or two. It took me forever to get the last 2 and I need one more for Earl so I'm searching for a decent place to grind.

You have to move to different stations and do missions for different factions that are aligned with the Empire. It also seems that doing missions for those with the most influence helps more but I tend to just do as many as I can for all of them.

P.S. Don't bother doing missions for the factions at the station that are not aligned with the Empire.

they take time im at count it took a month of solid play to get there without doing anything else that might upset the reputation

Is this the fourth time this has come up this week?

Ranking system is not currently bugged, the only minorly bugged part is the fact that the permit missions say there is someone waiting and that they re-appear as unobtainable quests.

Edit: Ok I checked its the third time not fourth but seriously there is a thread called "How to gain rank in Empire" from 27/05/15 that appears on page 1 and on page 1 of results for searching "rank".

I finally became a Lord, but now I can't become a Baron. I've been grinding at this one station for hours now, (only doing missions for imperial factions) And nothing is showing up. Is there a specific *Type* of mission I have to do?

Its because you are at the same station. Follow the link I sent, since the Empire consists of many factions you need them all to like you.

Imagine it as a word of mouth kinda thing, you keep doing all the sub-factions quests and they all speak to the big guy who promotes you. If there's only one sub-faction telling the big guy he ignores them.

omg it takes days not hours do you not read it took me 4 days to move to baron of at least 7 hrs play each day

Ranking is exponential, the first 1/2 ranks take very little time same as the combat or trading ranking.

They take longer the higher up you go although from zero to Baron it took me about 20 hours gameplay time (doing a fair few donate 4,000,000Cr missions) :p

Thanks... Also, what kinds of missions should I do? Ones where I have do donate items or just regular ones? And go about empire space doing them?

Personally, I've been stuck at lord for ages. Been doing empire missions with every empire faction I can find for a very long time (I think I got to lord around 1.1). I was under the impression that it is just a RNG system as to when the mission appears. No matter where I've gone, who I've talked to, or what my rep is, the mission for Baron wasn't showing up anywhere. Then when 1.3 Beta launched, I installed it and started playing. Lo and behold! The first time I open up the BB in power play there it is, my naval ascension mission for baron. In the beta server, under the new mission system.

Now, back to the stable release server. Still no ascension mission for my imperial rank. Rep is pretty much maxed with every imperial faction I've found. I see no reason why this mission won't pop up for me. After seeing it pop up immediately in beta but not once in stable build is leading me to believe it IS currently bugged a bit.

I get that random number generators are RANDOM, but I've been looking for this mission for so long, I'm doubting it's just a problem with the RNG not drawing the numbers I need. The more likely problem IMHO is that the current system isn't working correctly.

Just my 2c/observations...

Any missions with the cross type medkit logo where you get no credits reward but get "reputation increase" as the reward are best.
Normal missions still work but the "humanitarian" ones are best.

You probably know this but remember to check in the missions menu which faction the quest is for and don't just do any the station offers you.

Pretty much. I pretty much started at Persephone right in the heartland and travelled to Achenar, Summerland and all surrounding systems. One thing to note is that your reputation does go past Allied status but not too far so don't stop as soon as you see Allied but don't do 40 missions because it will stop at some point.
It gets harder when you are allied with the major faction since it will automatically ally you with the minor-factions making it difficult to see which ones you have and haven't made allies the old fashioned way :)

I think 1.3 increases the chance of rank missions (Cba to check changelog again) when you have met the allied requirements. Yeah there is some random number generator involved but most recent reports indicate there are no bugs stopping you ranking, only that its not perfect right now.

I'll probably end up having to wait until power play is out of Beta then. It's been so long since I've seen an imperial ascension mission that I haven't been trying too hard to find it. I've mainly just playing and enjoying myself instead of trying to grind for rank lately. If it pops before 1.3 is live, cool. If not, oh well I'm sure it'll pop when power play comes out. Would love to have a clipper before that but such is life I guess :)

It took me 2 days to go from Petty Officer to Post Commander and 2 days to go from Baron to Earl. I played a 'lot' of hours in those days but the best advice I can give is if you have a medium sized ship with a good sized cargo hold, go fill it up with a shop's worth of various freebie hand in items and restock those as you are close to or at stations that have them. Items like non lethal weapons, foods, medicines and slaves to free if you don't worry about the fine or are good at not getting scanned (I only got caught once the whole time and I didn't use silent running or heat sinks).

Try and find systems where there are a lot of different factions aligned with Fed or Empire depending on what you're grinding and go back and forth doing missions for them and ascension missions will pop up. If you can't find something like that just work on one or two local minor factions for a while and you will know that it's not enough if you don't get a naval ascension mission and need to move on after a while. You will just get a feeling that you've past a point where you've done enough and doing more isn't going to help. At that point move to a different system. I usually get the naval ascension mission soon after I do that and then grind that rep up for a while and move on if I don't get another one.
