Well I started to go ahead with doing the engineers. I already had Sirius Corp Allied in Sothis however I never got the permit. I now have the intro to Marco Qwent but it still tells me that I have to be invited by them. What am I suppose to do here? I have checked the missions boards for over 2 hours and even going from solo to open but no permit mission... Any ideas?

It's a bug many have been reporting with no fix in sight.
I was allied with sirius also for a long time with no permit, im not exactly sure why but when i went to siruis' neighbouring systems (procyon i think) i did another couple of missions for the sirius corp who were in control of hadwick station. After the missions were completed i went back and had an invite mission to another system which unlocked the sirius system and shortly after that i got the invite to qwent the engineer. You could try that, hope it works out.
I suffered from the bug until the last patch. Prior to that I had only a promise of a message in my inbox that never came.
After the last patch I went to Davy in Procyon (still allied with Sirius) and immediately found a permit mission on the board which I accepted. I then immediately received the permit (didn't need to do any mission).
Now able to enter the Sirius system I went to the main station there. Initially worried as nothing happened but it turned out this was just RNG. After many menu logs the Qwent access mission appeared.
So, the last patch worked for me. But it does appear that some are still struggling and it may still be bugged. I'd suggest menu logging at Davy and hoping you're one of the lucky ones.

the sirius permit isn't give out in the colonies, only around sirius system.
and the engineer invitation is only given in sirius system (any port there) - as stated on screen
Okay smart guy lol... Show me where to says at any place on the screen that it gives any indication at all letting you know to go near the Sirius systems to get the permit??? All it says is they will only give the invitation mission from the home station in which I'm not even after that right now. As I stated I'm after the permit to get into the home system... lol... It says nothing at all about having to go to any system "near" Sirius to get it such as Davy Dock in Procyon as some have suggested here.
Ok well ive just done the mission grind at Avik as there was the permit mission there, handed in my last mission and the person giving the mission vanishes and does not return.

It's the case with any minor faction permit. Only certain stations give the permits, usually it's in the system nearest to the permit locked system.

Davy Dock. Don't relog and refresh the board. Or hop around till you find it. Just go to Davy Dock and keep doing missions. Did it last week. No problems. The more you increase the allied rep Tue more chance it will pop up
The Marco Qwent mission came up for me pretty quickly too. But I didn't relog or refresh the board. I just carried on doing missions only for Sirius Corp at Patterson in Sirius.

I just spent hours doing missions to get allied there. The whole time I wasn't allied, the damn system permit mission was there locked because I wasn't allied yet. Now that I'm allied, it doesn't show up anymore
as a matter of fact, you ought to be over-allied to get the permit (just for more pain and sorrow, i think)
I had to travle to the variou stations in scylla to get the siriu persmission. But the Qwent invite is waiting.
After I was allied it took ~3 days for the invite mission to pop up. After that it took ~1 week for the quent invite to show.
Fd said it is bugged and will be better in 2.3. In the meanwhile just wait and stick around.
Maybe spend the time to do missions to gather the 25 modular terminals or the 25 unknown fragments to quicken the progress once you get access. Cause we all know, nobody goes to Qwent for the mods
