Not gonna' lie. The Pleiades Nebula feels more colonial than Colonia.

And man do I love it!

Life out here is rough, dangerous and awesome. Trading is a realistic prospect, Thargoids present a unique flavour, and it's every pilot for themselves.

The factions are more interesting, because honestly, Colonia feels like a private playground for the privileged few. The Pleiades though? Superpowers imposing claims, mega-corps facading as mining operations, and anarchaic bodies laying their own laws.

Colonia feels pretty bland in my opinion. My lack of interest in PMF might be a factor.

But the Pleiades? Love it.

Yeah, I spent a few days in the Pleiades recently looking for an Interstellar Factor.

Everywhere is under attack or under repair, you can make money selling medicines, the Thargoids jump out of nowhere, there’s all this lore and story to uncover.

If you’re power inclined there’s Cooper Research for the Alliance; PRE for the Feds etc, there’s really useful engineers. Barnacles and Thargoid structures, megaships all sorts.
Yeah, there’s a ton happening.

For me though, I’m working for the Alliance project out in the California Nebula, the Pleiades is much closer to the bubble, but it’s directly in the way. Love it.

While there check out the Running Man Nebula. Its fun too and has a very densely packed area of systems. iirc Its been several months since I was there.

How far away from Maia is that nebula?

Sorry it took so long to reply. Its roughly 900 Ly from Maia. Running Man is right next to the Orion Nebula. There is an asteroid base near the Orion Nebula in PMD2009 48 called Orion Nebula Tourist Centre you can dock at for a refuel/rest stop.

No problem dude. I think I'll visit once the current CG is over. Currently flying AX-patrol for the traders.

Jaques Station was great in the early days. I spent six months there or going back & forth with supplies, to get things going.

But when FD decided (with the help of a privileged few private groups for suggestions) to turn it's expansion into a popularity contest, that's when I turned my back on the area & I'v only been back once since, when returning from BP.

Still gets me now, that FD ignored what individuals wanted & went with the 'usual groups'.

I'v been in the Plaiedes a couple times but being 'burnt' once & an independent pilot, I find I don't want to get attached to a region or system anymore.

I can only agree with some gusto. I rushed out there with supplies for the very first CG, but alas I failed when they cut the CG time short, that was the first thrust of the knife, then they divided the surrounding systems up among un-deserving newcomers instead of allowing the pioneers to establish a truly independent state, to me it's now just a repair stop on the way there or back, sad!

I can vouch for the Orion Tourist centre. A few players were patrolling the Col Sector 70 border from there a couple of years ago, trying to find a way in and keeping a watch on nefarious activities by the Powers.

Another interesting place is Station X. Its in a nebula. I'll say no more as I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't been there.

TRYING TO LOVE IT....BUT ITS BUGGY TO SAY THE LEAST (FOR ME TODAY) game crashing every five minutes, limpets hanging on my like dingleberries and not picking up anything....these are all probably personal connection issues more than anything ...killing my enthusiasm however so I am leaving thee pods for the thargoids for now

Quite right, giving out systems to groups, some who had to use 'search' in the Galmap to find the place & did nothing in the early days of Jaques, was not FD's best move, IMO.

Tell me about it. There is no reason whatsoever to go there, bar repairs, for the true lone-wolf like you & I.

Like I say, private playground for the privileged few. Lame. I only support NPC factions out of principle. Communist ones... *grins*

Everything I'm doing in the Pleiades right now is 100% me. Killing Thargoids. That's it.

I'm back in Running Man now; sitting in the Orion Nebula Tourist Centre. The great thing about this station is that it has most services including a shipyard and outfitting. The station in the Witch Head nebula does not have those but its a nice pit stop (Witch Head Science Centre).

This time I brought my explora-Krait with my favorite toys; an SLF and a dual SRV hanger. I already checked in to the mission/passenger boards and there's not much in missions except mining and donations but it appears there are some passenger jobs. Since this base has outfitting I've summoned a class 6 passenger module from home base.

It's gorgeous out here with all these nebula's around.

Edit: I forgot to mention for the OP topic, Plaiedes is my new home. It has good commerce, missions and if you want to fight space bugs they're there.

Well, I got my passenger cabin installed and I went to the passenger mission screen with hope and excitement. Alas, all the passenger missions I could get (and all the ones I couldn't due to rep), were long range assignments.

Missions of 22+k Ly distance was all I could find. What a disappointment. I don't feel ready to travel 20k Ly's away in the hopes I can get missions and passenger delivery contracts.

I'm looking for a cluster of systems with a good economy outside the Bubble. The best place so far that's not 10s of thousands of LYs away that I've found, ... is the Pleiades. Does anybody have any other clusters of systems where you can set up shop and make money via missions and passenger contracts?

So, I've started scanning planets to find some good prospecting. I'm sitting on a planet atm that has some good Selenium content. I'll stay around here for a while collecting raw materials then move on.
