Newcomer / Intro Not grasping why so slow in a system

I got a passenger haul mission to the Alpha Centauri system and then to Hutton Orbital. Made the jump to the system but getting to Hutton Orbital is taking forever. Supercruise is active but it is taking forever to get there. Am I doing something wrong or is this part of the traveling? Screenshot shows present screen.

Hutton orbital is infamous for being a long, long, long, long, long, loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way from the system entrypoint, even at super-cruise speeds.

I've never made the trip myself (perhaps I will one day), but I'm sure I've heard it takes something like an hour and a half to two hours to supercruise to Hutton.

So, sit back, crack open a beverage, and get comfy. Maybe Netflix or a book...

Oh, and don't forget to pick up your comemorative mug whilst you are there!

From the Elite Dangerous wiki:

Hutton Orbital is notorious for being extremely far from the system's hyperspace jump arrival point at Alpha Centauri A. The distance is 6,784,404 ls, or 0.22 ly. It usually takes an hour and a half to get to Hutton Orbital from the arrival point, though many pilots have reported getting there in 45 minutes.
Hutton Orbital is the home of two rare commodities: Centauri Mega Gin and the The Hutton Mug.

Yeah, you got played there mate. Alpha C has always been infamous for that ridiculously long distance, already back in Elite 2 days, so I make sure to give that system a wide berth.
The other day when skimming missions there was a courier run for 5 Mil, so I was like "Hey, juicy... wait, is there a catch? -- Oh, Hutton. Not gonna happen."

Oh and I do hope for you that's a Dolphin I see there on your screenshot... Orcas (or other Large ships) can't dock at Hutton, which has probably been cause for many a gnaw mark in computer desks or even smashed peripherals. xD

Edit:
OH! And you're using Supercruise Assist. Well the advantage is you can leave the chair for the time being, but be aware that SCAssist is way slower than manual control. On the Hutton route it may amount to an hour of extra trip time because the Assist is super careful.

I have a Dolphin. Has been working out fairly good for me at this point.
Still figuring out things on controls at this point. Have much to learn.

In case you are curious: at maximum speed (100% throttle until 7 seconds), the straight-line travel time to Hutton Orbital is 86 minutes away. I don't know how much longer it takes when travelling at Supercruise Assist speed of 75%. In ED, flying in a straight line isn't necessarily the fastest way to get somewhere, so it's possible to get to Hutton a few minutes faster by not travelling in a straight line.

Everyone falls for "the Hutton trap" sooner or later... unless they read about it on the forums first. There are even some masochistic pilots who've learned to love it. For them, it's part endurance test, part zen phenomenon, part rite-of-passage.

..........

It is always prudent to check the destination distance in the arrival system. I understand that sometimes this is not available in some passenger mission-types but check anyway.

Large-paying missions have that reward for a reason.

That being said, many people make the Hutton run at least once, just for the sake of it (plus it makes a real mess of your paint-job).

One last point - looking at the screenshot made me groan  - 75% throttle - that supercruise assist module needs to be disengaged or better still, put something useful in the slot instead.

Your displayed speed is 792 times faster than light with throttle at maximum your speed would reach its maximum of 2001 times the speed of light, going to Hutton Orbital is one of the few times you get to travel that fast and have a destination.
Another downside to the Hutton run is that long travel in supercruise degrades hull integrity which depending on ship type leads to a large to huge bill.

Reminds me on making same mistake on this games predecessor, Frontier First Encounters. I was very glad to have taken half a money from passanger upfront. Because my passanger was very upset on how long Panther Clipper took on that last leg of mission, and refused to pay...

Maybe the OP should have looked at the HUD - it tells you how far the station is. Even better - look in the nav panel, 0.20 LY doesn't sound as much as 6000000 ls (or whatever it is). There are several other long distance locations to watch out for as well...

Trying to answer all the comments since my last post.
1. I tried a couple different jumps to find a faster route there. None of them worked. Doesn't mean there isn't one that may have shaved a bit off... I just didn't find it.
2. Haven't learned to fly without supercruist assist yet. On my "to do list" with many other things.
3. No, I didn't arrive. My RL time didn't permit it. I abandoned it. On the flip side, with the little time I had left to play last night, I more than made up for it with other missions in the time it would have taken with my limited experience.

Thank all for the replies as usual. I learn just a little bit each time from your replies or at least give me something to check into.

To OP there are no different jump routes giving you shorter travel. Exit point of jump is always roughly at same distance.
For supercruise assist, tick off auto throttle, put "pedal to metal" and keep going. When timer says something like 9 to 6 seconds to target move throttle to blue zone.
