Not-Lego Type-9 from China

Games Workshop decided to go after anything and everything selling "not warhammer but actually warhammer" stuff from China, getting flak for catching many innocent makers in their dragnet. They can't go after AliExpress themselves, but do go after all the sellers, the current big injuctoon is filed in Florida so many US protections come into play. FDev really needs to do the sam, or end up losing their IP.

Interesting then that the company in question also offers a selection of 40k kits...

I believe the more important thing would be, legally speaking, actively protecting your intellectual property. If a company doesn't, it might make it somewhere between more difficult and impossible to persue trademark infringements down the line.
Which is why making it official would be a better route.
I doubt these models are sold by Tencent. Just because a Chinese corporation holds a share of your company that doesn't mean everyone in China can now infringe on your trademarks willy nilly. That happens even without a Tencent shareholder.
I think the suggestion is that having a 800 pound Mandarin gorilla might be useful in negotiating a pleasant outcome....

For me the funniest part is still calling the T9 a ā€œheavy warshipā€ (top of the head translation on my part). Meanwhile, seeing them in a CZ, ā€œPiƱataā€ goes through my head every time.

… it couldn’t even be qualified a ā€˜battleship’ when on the scale of Elite ships Farraguts and Majestics are classed as battlecruisers (if I recall) and nobody is going to call those small.

These ships are designed by fans who upload the instructions to Rebrickable. You can download instructions from there and build with parts you currently own.
The "sets" you buy from China, the supplier sends you the parts required and a link to download the instructions.
I'm tempted to build the T10, but the costs for the parts would be crazy!

For ECM's big build this year we've downloaded the instructions and bought legit Lego parts for an entire giant T9.

The result, as built by the community during the event will be entering the raffle

Got the parts for under 200 quid delivered after searching hard, using a variety of sources through brick link etc

that sounds incredibly good value

The thing to remember, is that although GW sells rules and models, theoretically you can use any models, except when playing at GW events or local GW shops. Between friends, who cares? Some of the best rules imo, are figure agnostic. You use whatever you want. Conversely, some of the GW ranges can be used with other rules as the figures like the LotR were good. Sadly oop
