Just saw this in the news. Wonder how that compares with the largest/widest system discovered thus far in the game?

Less than half (7000 AU ~0.11 LY). IIRC largest discovered system in game is Sigma Orionis, 0.27 LY across.

But if you mean star/planet pairs (not multiple star systems), then nowhere near that big has been found.
