So, I am not sure if this a bug or not but this is related to a mission.

The mission is to go to the MAWU system and kill skimmers. The mission calls for me to go to a wetherbee base
which is not in the MAWU system at all. I scanned everything in the system, googled to see if maybe the base is
hidden on a planet. Nothing...What am I missing, this isn't the first mission I hate to abandon because I couldn't find
a base or port, I hate taking unnecessary standing hits.

I suspect you're using a basic scanner (i.e. not the advanced one with the "infinite" range) - there are supposed to be 3 stations there, not counting the one on the surface of the planet in your screenshot (as that's technically not a station...). You're missing Dirac Barracks, which usually exists something like 1933 light seconds from the nav beacon (give or take, depending on orbits). I'd suggest docking at one of the stations there, going into the Galaxy map when docked, and purchasing any local system data available...

Khromm is right. Sometime stations, even whole planets can be so far from there star they don't show right away. If you don't have the right tools, or spend some time (huge amounts) looking for them you may never know they were there. Always remember... space is bigger than you think.

Thanks for the help, after docking and purchasing the local data it revealed everything within the system. Thanks for the tip and hopefully this helps others.

You don't need to dock and purchase data. Drop into the nav begin and target it, you will get all data for the system. You'll also need to do this for certain salvage and rescue missions.
