General / Off-Topic Not that many games, much less than the past

I was looking at E3 and thinking the PS4 looked awesome but not backwardly compatible and I learned my lesson to wait till about half way through a console life cycle to get a better product costing less with much much cheaper games.

I then got to thinking I fancy to get a game now for my PS3. A game I can play on the sofa or while walking on the treadmill.

So I started looking with a fairly big set of criteria which were:

1) No FPS games and nothing too violent or bloody. I have plenty of those games already and perhaps for my mental well being want something good for me and something to play with the kids around.
2) Not a kids focused game. What I mean is something not too kiddy like little big planet. I want something appeals to adults without being violent in a quentin tarentino way.
3) Not a puzzle game.
4) Uses the systems graphics and sound well.
5) Playable and addictive.
6) Not a sports game.
7) Not an indie game. Although I love indie games I was looking for a big title with decent graphics and lots of content.
8) Not a platformer.
9) Must not require a subscription or any costs after initial purchase.
10) No driving games.
11) Has to be an action game primarily, not dominating action perhaps, but I mean not something like Civ. Although I love Civ it is not what I look for at the moment.
12) It has to be good, so generally reviewed well.

After a fair bit of looking I did not find anything.

I will keep looking, but where are the side scrolling shooters that are done to modern standards? In the eighties there would have been lots of games that filled the above criteria.

ED will fill the above and so will Godus. But I was looking for something now on the PS3 that I could play on the sofa through the telly.

FPS, sports, kids and puzzle games totally dominate :(

Any suggestions?

LOL i agree, but i read up a little on EA(they used to in the 80's make very obscure titles as well)that because of the expense making a game,it HAS to get into the top 20 in sellers or itnot financially viable.
i have also read the monstrous costs involved in making games for these gaming machines and it is astronomical..this i believe stops true innovation..which was at the forefront of the 80's games.sadily
though some like 'elite' will be made ..there is not the will or the money,or the market large enough to take the risk on innovation or getting classics onto these machines..most want what the games producers are sending out..they complain but still buy them..

Mirrors edge is a fairly non violent action game ....not sure how it would go playing it on a treadmill though....

portal 2? (might be a bit puzzly)

I am not so opposed to platforming in 3D first person and mirrors edge looks very cool, I may get that.

How about platforming in 2.5D from a third person perspective? I've finished Fez on the Xbox 360 and Polytron are looking to get it released on the PS3 soon. It's really odd to play, but quite compelling.

not traditional side scrolling platformers though...

Fair enough...

Have I missed the point?

It has to be a decently-budgeted on-disc action game that doesn't involve shooting, jumping, driving, sports, or puzzles and has relatively state-of-the-art graphics; however, it's okay if it's a relatively low-budget download-only platformer with puzzles and retro-styled graphics.

I must admit I don't own a PS3, however have heard of games that might appeal; Uncharted series is supposed to be not bad, Infamous I saw the sequal on the PS4.
