Newcomer / Intro Not to happy

Ah the boost key, I am having a few problems, have to look into it further, because I am playing on a laptop I think my key isn't working properly, I think default is insert if memory serves. Thx for reminding me.

The default for boost is <TAB>. Don't forget to turn off FA with <z> beforehand, or it will stop your boost in its tracks.

Submit to the interdiction, turn to face the interdictor as you hit the boost button and fly right past him. by the time you've completed this action you are already charging up your FSD drive whilst your opponent is desperately trying to turn to face you.

Works every time.

Thx this works, been trying it, good tactic thx for the heads up.

Gagarin

I never turn towards them I have 4 pips in engines. I always submit, then hit 100% in whatever direction I am pointing, click on next target to see if they are worth fighting. If not boost, boost maybe chaff then hit FSD. In traders it may not work.

Oh and search for your name in navigation there is a station named after the great man at a guess 100ly from sol.

Could you ask them to change the threat title to HAPPY :)

Interdictions have been ramped up to almost 'Original Elite' levels (a good thing in my opinion), I'm sure this applies to solo also.

I'm afraid you've got to learn how to run away after submitting to an interdiction or fight, it's becoming Elite Dangerous now with a vertical learning curve...I haven't won one in ages (had a 100% record until a patch or two ago)

Just hit Supercruise as soon as your FSD cooldown allows (submitting helps) and then carry on your journey... I doubt this will change so learn how to deal with it.

I never got interdicted this much in original Elite, although I didn't play it for extreme amounts of time. This seems to have programed interdiction, if I am carrying valuable goods I get interdicted by a ship that skins of my shields in a matter of seconds, My GRIPE is this is poor if you are building a realistic game, it's more like playing war hammer or something like that "you have valuable cargo" "you now must use twelve sided pirate dice" I mean really, isn't their a better form of AI pirate than this, in this day and age of gaming, give me a break.

Well, it's also, I suspect, heavily dependent on the ship you're in and your combat rating.

I almost never get interdicted in my Asp, and have never been interdicted in my Vulture (although it's early days). My combat rating is expert.

I was flying an empty taxi Sidewinder with no cargo hold and no weapons (to get to my other ship) last night; I was interdicted twice. Think about it - what would you interdict: the flying tank from Mars (with 4 burst lasers, two multicannons and an A5 shield), a flying death machine from another dimension (with class 3 pulse lasers, no cargo, and an A5 shield), or a piddly Sidewinder with no guns? You can't cargo scan in supercruise, btw. Pay attention to the system security level too - it does make a difference.

In that regard, I find the AI to do a fair enough job. Forgive me if I sound unsympathetic, but it's because you're easy prey. The reason AI programmers turn to probabilistic algorithms is because even rather simple ones do a convincing enough job. Suck it up and get out the small ship and get something with a bit more firepower. Do some RES hunting to improve your combat ranking (and make yourself a fat wad of cash - bounty-hunting has received a buff). You'll notice a difference eventually.

I had the impression that flying with no shield or with a seriously undersized shield increased the chance of interdiction. Not enough data to be sure though.
