Nothing coming out of pulse lasers!

I can hear the weapons fire, pulse laser bars go down but no lasers come out of them! Any ideas? It works fine in training but not in open play.

yup me too. Hard to get started and get out of the starter ship when you can't even shoot anything.... so glad I spent today thinking I was going to get on and enjoy Elite.
