Nothing to spend your money on?

Having nothing to spend money on is probably a matter of opinion (of play style choice).

If you play like me and explore a lot, and ship, ships to Jacques (some costing 300mill+ to ship), then there is plenty to spend money on (nice to see exploration will get a buff, maybe I will have to much cash in time ).

Also, If you are willing to play in open, and find some Pvp and not combat log (e.g, putting your insurance cost up as a risk), its easy to waste cash in a big ship.

I do wonder if the people complaining about not having anything to spend cash on, have used some of the games less savory methods (mass mission stacking/game state switching, Quince and scanning mission). Then they get the ranks and ship they want, and don't want to use them for anything (maybe to pose)

So then they sit there waiting for the next big asset to buy. Sure, that's kinda a valid player style, but there is already a lot to buy (and more in time), but if you gonna rush though it, dedicate your game play to fastest cash, and maybe use exploits, what do you expect.

<rant over>

what I am wondering, based on what I see coming and hope is coming:

I wonder if people will complain about hull repair cost, due to shield issue, even when they have more than they can spend (and if you really haven't got the cash, your playing with a ship that is to big for your bank)... also, not sure big ship have found there feet in elite yet, maybe when aliens?

Talking about aliens, if areas are available with challenges that are not a sure win... maybe even only 50/50 or even only 25%, are people with all the cash going to risk there big ships (probably if the cash is guaranteed, e.g, medico skills can pay the bills, but not at 25%)

with 19w and 4d play time at the time of this transmition, i still have a lot of stuff i need to save up for.
I have tried Bounty hunting, powerplay, trading, exploration (mainly) and never really gone over 1 billion in assets (lot less in cash, but i don't need the cash, so why power-farm it), as I spend my cash on maxing out different ships, Shipping some over to Jacques... even ship some around the bubble (going around in my anaconda and visiting engineers, then calling the ships to the ones they need. safe time and effort, but costly).

Seems there are lots of ways to spend cash, but maybe not what everyone wants (as they hoard and only want assets for cash... not services to spend cash on...so base rental may be a flop!).

I just wonder if people where not just going for the fastest cash, and trying out other parts of the game...

would they spend more?

Would they have less money in the first place, because they didn't power mine cash?

Is having more stuff to spend cash on needed?

Do people with lots of cash just want bigger things to by (stations, ship, weapons)? or would rebalancing costs (maybe at higher end stuff, cost more:)), adding more services to sink cash be okay with them?

See, if its just more things you want, when you say there is to much cash... you may not get what you want as a result. and then the complaints hit (E.g. upcoming changes to mission)

<also, people that have power-farm cash will have had it easy for a long time Vs any new players, so think yourself lucky>

I thought I'd run out of stuff to spend money on.

Then I decided to combat spec my Anaconda.

Now I have no money. And she's still not done. Lol

Amassing billions of credits isn't really my thing anyway, neither is "A Rating" my ships, or gaining every ship, or gaining Elite (although i do need it for that Engineer!).

All I like to do in ED, is basically just go around doing whatever I please. :)
No grinding, no whining*.

It's more fun that way. For me anyway. :)

*PowerPlay caused much grind and whine. But I got my Packhounds in the end!

Well I just bought my Vette today. I've went from having 500Mil on hand to having 80. I still need a few weapons and the reactive armour. Then I'll need plenty of rebuys.
Gona reduce the mass of the Conda a wee bit and use that for cruising around when the new developments re aliens happen.
The Vette is for combat CG'S and such.
I now own all the FED and Imp ships.
I guess what I'm saying is I can always find some way to spend in game creds (2billion total assets)

but people will gamble log :p

Then Sam 'SpAce' Rothstein.... wont allow them back in house unless they want their skin beat off them.

I fully support the idea of some interstellar casinos.

Or a pan-galactic lottery.

Zero-G Bingo.

No need for space hookers when you have obelisks though:

I have a lot of funds (though not billions). About 60% was earned the old fashioned way, another 40% was earned using various "exploits" or "actual gameplay elements later nerfed" found since we went live.

For the moment, I have all the ships I need, but it's nice to have money lying around in case I want to try out a new ship, or go do some risky combat, or whatever. In the meantime, I'll just keep doing what I like doing on Elite, and some of that entails making a ton of dough, so sooner or later I will have billions rather than the slightly over half-billion I have today. If there's nothing to buy with it, no big deal. If they decide to throw us the Panther Clipper at some point, I'll be ready. :D

I just spent 500+ million Cr on Prismatic Shields. One 1A, one 8A and two each of the rest. I'm weird like that! :D

It put me below my self imposed low-end cash threshold of 2bil Cr but I'll survive somehow. LOL

I just bought all of the ships types and put them in one location a couple of days ago, because including the one you're sitting in that's all the ships you can fit in one station. Until, they release the Dolphin and then you will no longer be able to do that!!!

Oh, and I piled 900,000,000 Cr into a Cutter.

How many people do you actually see complaining about not having anything to spend their money on? I've seen countless posts complaining about other people having "too much" money, but precious few where people are complaining about having too much money themselves.

Mostly in topics discussing high-end stuff people want added, like base-building and capital ships.

Having purchased 2 A8 power plants lately, I'm back to the grind.

Fitting out the big three ships for different load out options is a Billionaires game.

There is a cause for having 'loads a money'.

FD must be aware of the billions that some players have accumulated.

I suspect that there are plans in the pipeline for us to use lots of those credits.

For example, a war with the Thargoids set in war zones just out side the bubble. Humans will need to work together (for example in Multi Crew ships) to defeat Thargoid ships. How else can we use those billions?
