Notice: I've noticed that you noticed that we noticed what you failed to notice

And what she of us have been noticed to have noticed is this: Elite is very much deserving of criticisms.

Elite as it exists right now is extremely bare bones. Basically, Early Access levels of unfinished. They ways in which this are true are obvious and objective.

Placeholders have become permanent. USS and POI.

Load times are both too frequent for a modern game, and too long. The genre doesn't excuse the number and length of load times. Because space games have previously had a lot of them, isn't a valid excuse for there being so many of them in a modern game.

RNG Grind. This is the domain of cheap, addiction targeting free to play territory. Of crap mobile games and knock of MMO titles. It has no place in a Sim.

The BGS basically doesn't work. It cannot do anything dynamic or offer opportunities for emergent game play. It can't even tick over on its own.

Exploration is still stuck with Eyeballs only. The methods used to explore new places was more sophisticated when Columbus sailed than.it is in Elite. Pretty unforgivable.

Elite deserves criticisms. That doesn't mean you should not like it. That you're wrong for doing so. By all means, enjoy. But it also doesn't mean you should allow your economic, temporal and emotional investment to lead to blind defense where it is not deserved.

Elite needs work. Lots and lots of room for much needed improvement here. It needs to return to a design direction driven by the promises made to original backers and lose the free to play grinding placeholder material.

So please get over the criticisms of the game. They are very much merited. They come from people who care. Who want the game to succeed. Who know that FDev is going to have to put in serious work to win back both good will and players.

Once you turn 18, there are no more rewards for TRYING. You actually have to ACCOMPLISH at this stage of life. And flight model aside, Elite has so far failed to accomplish a whole lot besides sheer, brown, inch deep, mile wide size.

Nothing is without criticism. This goes for Elite. And it goes for criticism.

So take your own medicine and accept you will recieve criticism on your criticism and don't describe that as blind defence. You are not the arbiter whether it is deserved or not.

Get over yourself.

Not sure if you are talking to me, but, I will respond accordingly.

Understand, I know full and well that ED deserves criticism for it's flaws and other things... What I was pointing out was that the OP adds nothing constructive to the forums of a game it hasn't played in months... I paid good money for Battlefield 1 and I have only played 102 hours total and I have no desire to play anymore due to it's flaws (or better yet, my perception of them).

But, unlike the OP, I don't sit on the forum and whine about things on a nearly a daily basis and multiple time a day! In fact, I've never posted in the BF1 forums at all. I didn't like the way the game went, so I quit playing. Done. No long ranting posts about this, that or the other thing. Just walked away. Why bother people with it, the game isn't going to change. I miss not squadding up with friends that I've gamed with, some for over 5 years! Oh well, my loss, my problem, not the rest of the games community.

I standby what I posted earlier...

Objective?

Placeholders have become permanent. USS and POI.
Placeholders?
I am not saying that these could not be developed further, but why would they be placeholders.

Load times are both too frequent for a modern game, and too long.
Loadtimes?
What are you talking about? Please specify.
The only problem I encounter sometimes are mission board load times.
Perhaps it is a problem on your end?

RNG Grind. This is the domain of cheap, addiction targeting free to play territory. Of crap mobile games and knock of MMO titles. It has no place in a Sim.
Again... what are you referring too? Grind in general is no problem. It depends...
You need to elaborate more for your remarks to make sense.
You are speaking in vague general terms, which is useless for a discussion.
I disagree that grind has no place in a sim.
I might even disagree about whether ED is in fact a sim, or to what extend.
I might disagree about your definition of what a sim is supposed to be.

The BGS basically doesn't work. It cannot do anything dynamic or offer opportunities for emergent game play. It can't even tick over on its own.
I don't care. It's fine if you do, but it is no problem for me.

Exploration is still stuck with Eyeballs only. The methods used to explore new places was more sophisticated when Columbus sailed than.it is in Elite. Pretty unforgivable.
I agree that this needs further development. I made several proposals myself, but I also get that this is a huge long term project.

Elite deserves criticisms. That doesn't mean you should not like it. That you're wrong for doing so. By all means, enjoy. But it also doesn't mean you should allow your economic, temporal and emotional investment to lead to blind defense where it is not deserved.
Blind defense?
That is quite a presumption and accusation.
To me this disqualifies everything you have to say, because you already start with covering your tracks by accusing everybody who does not agree with you, before you even heard what they have to say.

Elite needs work. Lots and lots of room for much needed improvement here.
Yes I agree, but as I said... it is a huge long term project.

It needs to return to a design direction driven by the promises made to original backers and lose the free to play grinding placeholder material.
Players have input and very often FD listens, but we do not develop the game.
What exact promises are you referring to? I have a strong feeling they were not promises at all.

So please get over the criticisms of the game. They are very much merited. They come from people who care. Who want the game to succeed. Who know that FDev is going to have to put in serious work to win back both good will and players.
I have no problem with constructive criticism.
I do have problems with people who accuse me of blindly defending the game if I do disagree with them.

Once you turn 18, there are no more rewards for TRYING. You actually have to ACCOMPLISH at this stage of life. And flight model aside, Elite has so far failed to accomplish a whole lot besides sheer, brown, inch deep, mile wide size.
I strongly disagree (although I have no idea what turning 18 has to do with this).
I must be blindly defending the game.
Also you seem to forget the enormity of the task to develop this unique game.
If you do not have the patience to be part of a game that is developed while you are in it then come back in ten years.

You seem to misunderstand OP.
You were quitting BF1. Fine. There is no need to whine, because you stopped. You're gone. Away. Over and Out. And the like.

OP cares about the game. He doesn't just want to leave - on the contrary - he wants ED to success, but he does see problems, barriers,...
Also others do/think the same.
But then are the White knights coming (you're already a member?) which does bashing any thread and poster of critic posts into the ground trying to silence them.
Is that the new way of blind adoration? Only a question...

Now is that better? Does that help to get a better ED? Really?
Perhaps in some time there is absolute worship to ED and FD... How many followers do you think there would be left?

Disclaimer: That is Sarcasm. I feel the need to write that down, because many of the WKB won't understand otherwise. And even then...

Well noticed but did they notice or care? I think life has got in their way now tbh. Serious gameplay is not changing and we're fed with eye-candy. However, Multi-crew is loads of fun when using 1-1 with mics but less so trying with 3 players. I think it's an orgasm frankly but that's all with little to do with much afterwards.

About this? :) There is criticism, what can be rightful, and there is to drag something or someone in the mud. Not the same thing.

This. (Sorry Zig, no more rep for a while.) :D

Criticism is even, thought out and designed to make something better. What I'm seeing lately is drama queen levels of "if you don't change this the way I want it, I'm going to kill myself."

Criticize away. Make it intelligent and / or constructive and I'll rep you for it, even if we disagree. The real problem children are the whiny, self indulgent gits, with unspecific grievances and a bit fat lower lip jutting out. We'll never get along.
