Noticing text comms...

Based on something in another thread i saw.

Does the fact that you received text comms need to be made a little more obvious?

From my point of view... I tend to send many messages to players i see... But vary rarely get a response.

I wonder if it is because they simply didn't notice the communication? I know i have missed some now and again...

Yes, I agree that the notification is pretty easy to miss and must be made clearer. I also assume they are aware of this...

I agree. Sometimes I notice someone has text'd me just as I go out of range or drop out of SC. Don't want to appear to be an ignoramus.

I think a simple "ping" or similar sound when you receive a message would help out a lot.

Yep not many responses, I know comms not going thru can be a network issue (theres a thread out there somewhere)

Yes, it needs to be more clear that we got a message. Maybe turn the message panel blue like your input line?

Also text comms either not working across systems as advertised, or quick comms menu for someone in friends list is not working. Ticketed, under investigation.

Two improvements I feel would be nice.


1) As mentioned, a audio/visual notification you have a message

2) Quick Reply Button. I was docking yesterday, and someone sent me a message. But I could not respond, as I had to lock on to them. Cycling through all the ships in the ports was possible - but it had to do the initial scan to determine the pilot names before I could respond. During which time, the pilot who sent the message had departed/logged off/docked, as was no where in sight. So I failed to respond back. A "respond to last call-sign" button would be useful.

I agree with having a subtle ping for messages however, perhaps for only the first one from a new contact. Would get annoying fast if pinging for every message and someone decides to spam you.

I can receive but not answer.
or maybe I'm doing it wrong?
