I acquired a fine for exiting a station with my gear down. I neglected to pay the fine and now I am "Wanted" in system. How do I rid myself of this status?

Go to some outpost in vicinity or station in another system which has a different controlling faction (to prevent yourself from being shot at sight), access the Contacts menu and pay off your bounty via Pilots Federation.
