Now this is a tad silly

took a job to transport to scientists 11k ly to an earth like pair. I arrive what do I find a beluga and two Orcas with a bunch of tourists...
I'd understood a few exploration vessels - but this is like Cook arriving in Hawai only to find that a few pleasure barges of the Londoner high society have arrived b4 him...

A Hauler also decided to take a peek. I would understand cheap exploration - but whats the jump range of a Hauler, could they not have taken an adder at least..
to extrapolate from my example above this m,eans that not only have drunk Lord Ramsbottom and his entourage arrived b4 our industrious explorers but also Gilly the lamprey fisher in his corracle...

Yeah, that ruined Sag A for me too.

I came across this over 20,000 light years from home, over 10,000 light years from Colonia. Just for added fun, there were also System Authority Vessels, annoying my passengers with an unexpected scan...

Well, times change. Hillary would be appalled by the sight of 800 tourists, preparing for a fun trip, if he came to visit the Mt. Everest base camp, right now. :)

Doesn't seem too silly to me.

If you take a glance at Powerplay leader population stats, or surf eddb or whatnot, it's easy to see there are *trillions* of human beings in the Elite Dangerous galaxy.

Given that you're heading to known tourist beacon locations, i.e., the galactic equivalent of national monuments or whatever, it's not *that* odd to find other ships there - at least with easily accessible, reliable, and quick faster-than-light travel involved. :p

The real funny part; a signal source full of people who have arrived at a beacon that exists, but is undiscovered, needs a scan because it's not known yet, in a named system with a star that exists, but is undiscovered needs a scan because it's not know yet, around a planet that exists, but is undiscovered needs a scan because it's not know yet... with eleventy people flying around as though this is all known.

Riiiiiight. I am rather glad frontier have agreed to overhaul exploration a bit; a domino of known unknowns that exist, that become known unknowns that exist, after scanning - is quite something. ;)

Was just about to post the same thing.

I had to get my timing perfect in order to get selfies of my ship and the Sag A beacon without getting photobombed by poxy Belugas.

Oddly enough, I didn't see a single tourist ship anywhere on the way there or the way back though.
Curious.
