Come on FD, we need an Official Guide to System Name Pronunciations!
It was all well and good in the old Elite days - Ayethi could've been I-ETH-ee, or I-thee...Facece might have been said as FACE-ee, or fak-ETCH-ee...Ququve could've been pronounced CUE-CUE-vee or it might even have rhymed with 'groovy'...
It never mattered before because previous Elites were only text on a screen. The system names were never actually spoken.
But now...
Now we have voice comms and we have multiplayer! And that means people inevitably needing to mention system names to each other. And we're finding that we don't all call those systems the same thing :S
So here's the deal - does Frontier Developments have an 'official' pronunciation lexicon (at least for core systems)? Or is it all going to remain one big "come as you are" verbal party?
I recall a Teamspeak chat rcently with my FGE friends where we tried to work out how Acihaut should be pronounced. In the end we decided we might try calling it 'Atchoo' for a while, spoken like a sneeze, because...well, why not?
I've certainly seen quite a few Elite YouTube vids where the maker has stumbled over how to say certain system names - I feel it would clear up a lot of confusion if FD came up with an 'official' system pronunciation guide!
Of course, it doesn't empirically matter one way or the other - but the Elite Dangerous galaxy IS Frontier's baby, so it's only logical we ask them how to say their baby's name, isn't it?
