Now we know the Krait is coming back...

Some NPC crew mention flying Panthers in their resume, so there is presumably a plan to introduce them sometime.

But with the coming of the Krait and the assumption of an eventual Panther, I don;t think there's too many prequel-game ships that people have been clamouring for. Other than the Moray, and Moray fans are split on whether it should be introduced as a "submersible spaceship" or not. If it's a flying sub, then it'll have to wait until we can land on water worlds.

I'd like to see Moray Starboats in ED. But I gotta say I find the return of the Krait far more important! That's something I've been hoping for since ED's launch. After the Cobra (for obvious reasons) Krait was the most iconic ship in 1984 and I've always wanted to own one.

Though I'd like to see the shuttle craft deployable from fighter bay to allow small passenger and cargo transfers with outposts.
I used to want this as well, but this would allow a T-9 or Conda to empty an outpost during CG's. Outposts are the only safe place to go for my Python at the moment.

I'd like to see the Cobra MkI. Smaller & less well equipped than the MkIII but same speed & manouverability. Mostly I just like the shape ;)

I'd iike to see:

  • Wolf MkII
  • Constrictor
  • Orbital Shuttle
  • Lion
  • Boa
  • Cobra (Mks I & II)
  • Falcon
  • Lifter
  • Long Range Cruiser
  • Puma Clipper
  • Panther Clipper <----------
  • Transporter
  • Lynx Bulk Carrier
Basically all of the ships in the Elite universe that are not mentioned in this list.

I would most like to see the Mamba, because it'd be cool to have a dedicated racing ship, and the Moray Star Boat, although that really needs oceans to go with. I liked the Saker as well, and for bonus points I'd love to see the Hognose missionary ships from ArcElite.

In truth, I wouldn't mind if FD made ships like the Mamba and Moray canonically obsolete, and instead we had new ships "inspired by" those patterns.

Hehe. I just said "Elite canon" with a straight face, as if it weren't a shifting random quagmire. ;)

"An out-of-production spacecraft produced by Faulcon DeLacy and one of its earliest designs. The Krait once led the field in small scale fighter craft - faster, more agile, and more heavily armed than most of its rivals, the design sold in the millions. Now the Krait is largely obsolete. It remains a heavily armed fighter for its size, but its sluggish speed and sub-standard maneuverability make it vulnerable to escort fighters and modern police ships. Kraits are still found in the poorer and more anarchic parts of the galaxy - most are a hodgepodge of old and new technology cobbled together. In combat, the Krait is often paired off against larger ships, such as the Cobra and Asp, who match the tiny ship in maneuverability, but who remain vulnerable to the Krait's impressive weaponry."

Slow, turns like a brick, hits like a brick to the head. Probably good Condor/Taipan/GU fodder, or entry-level pirate craft depending on internals.

But there is something that makes me think...

With all the mission payout nerfing, and looming of Thargoids, can we expect to see austerity forced upon us as the Tharooids destroy our economy, forcing us to park our large, expensive ships and fall back to these models of yesteryear? Are these outdated relics slated to become the nudiustertian fashion of today, because they'll be all we can afford to outfit and repair?

(And yes, by the Powers that Be, I used "nudiustertian" in a modern sentence)

I'm sure I recall it being referred to as a mk3 Krait - and the quick sneak peek in passing on the computer screen in the office - it was slightly bigger than a Cobra.
New "Marks" of the old design's quite appeal to me - and yeah Moray Starboat for when we can land on\in waterworlds please.

Saud Kruger acquiring the rights to the Moray Starboat, turning it into a medium pad cruise ship with emphasize on planetary sightseeing with a low mass hull and strong maneuvering thrusters to handle planetfall and high gravity environments. Would fit with the whole top front being a huge observatory for the tourists to gawk at the sights, like a hotel block with engines.

What other classic ships would you like to see return?

Boa? Gecko? Mamba? Moray? Worm?

Something from FE2 or FFE?

Imperial Explorer complete with huge Plasma Accelerator as a common pirate encounter :D

Also Stowmaster fighter, so you can pew pew some more before rebuy screen hits you...

Wasn't the Boa the next largest ship after the Panther Clipper in the previous version of Elite? I'd imagine we won't see that until they can add an alternative method of docking to stations for ships of that size.
