Why cant my crew perform these functions for me? Put them in our multi-crew seats and give access to these functions if you have a pilot, maybe add more as the rank of the crew member increases. That way a crewmember actually has some purpose on a Cobra...

How would that work? Don't really want the crew to keep switching the flight assists on (or off)
If you have an active crewmember, you can engage super cruise assist, undocking etc as if you had the modules. So you either get the modules or a crewmember for the same functionality.
