I think a lot of the issues regarding interdictions boil down to three obvious bugs I saw from one single pursuing pirate.
1) I got a mission update about a pirate target chasing you. Seconds later, the NPC is spawned immediately behind me out of a clear scanner and interdiction begins. This is either a bug or lazy design.
2) After boosting away and entering SC again, the pirate appeared 10ls ahead of me instead of entering SC at the same place I did. This is a bug.
3) On arrival at my target station, the same pirate appeared in regular flight behind me. Note - at no point did he ever re-enter SC. He just warped to the station in order to arrive half a second after I did. This is a bug.
These seem to not be atypical; and squashing these bugs will probably fix a lot of the problems with pirate interdictions currently.
