I hope this isn't too far-fetched, as I think it would be pretty cool to introduce more events into the game:
I imagine a scenario where we have to shut down a planetary base, but all is not what it seems.
We could be led, by a signal or word of mouth about a supplier of Onion Head just outside of the bubble. Said to be the strongest strain yet. Or a similar carrot on a stick..
We could be sent or stumble across a rogue base on a planet. It would be unusually large sized, but with no colours, and a dull looking name to remain inconspicuous..
I imagine he base has proximity based events:
On approach we could get the usual comms; “Get out of here” “Move along” “You have no business here" perhaps 1Km out.
Continue on towards the base, and the messages would get more aggressive; “Leave now or face the consequences” “Leave or we'll shoot" perhaps 800m out.
Continuing further, and the comms would go silent. Lights would turn red. Flood lights would light you up and the surrounding area, sweeping across the land and sky. Sirens would sound. Perhaps 500m out.
Here’s where the event uses a bit of logic: For solo, & you’re in an SRV:
The gates would open. A lone SRV would come out, at full throttle, straight for you.
The SRV would skid to a halt 100m from the base.
I imagine this base is pretty big. Lots of gates, large walls, perhaps 1 ramp into the internal area, where further walls block your entry inside.
So, destroy the SRV and then waves of further SRVs would emerge and launch their attack.
Similar events if you’re in a ship. Waves or small fighters would attack after an initial single unit.
The idea of this is to get inside, where you could force scoop valuable cargo, take down power to stop the turrets, scan various comms for intel. about other bases etc.
I like the idea of NPC SRVs zerging you. They could be picked off with air support easily I'm sure.
The event would reset every hour or so. Monetary rewards would be enough to cover a good trade route or more seeing as how the risk of death is pretty high.
