Horizons NPC Beluga pilots behave like bullies...

I just fired up my Asp for a quick turn to Maia. On arrival i asked for docking permission, lined up with the mail slot at roughly 7 km distance and flew straight towards at 99 m/s, aiming for the green side - Yes i obey docking protocol... I was just passing the entrance grate, when i was rammed from behind by an NPC Beluga, squeezing past my ship and getting us both stuck in the slot. No chance of escape - the station cleared the entrance in the usual way. Actually, that was the first time in 22 months of playing Elite, that i was shot down by a station - and the first time, that an NPC was responsible for me dying...

NPC ships should really obey the law, or once we can name our ships, i will fly a Vulture named Dredd, going whale hunting. OBEY. THE. LAW.

Err, what i meant to ask... has anybody gotten in a similar situation, is this a bug or intended, or was this just a mishap? Anyways, keep an eye open, for NPCs in Belugas while docking!

Not just Beluga's. this is common behavior for many NPC's. Only fix is to keep speeds low.

It's really annoying in the toaster rack.

NONE of the NPCs pay any attention to human players in and around stations. I am pretty sure that they are totally blind to our presence.

I think people are only noticing this now because the Beluga is pretty hard to ignore! lol! And when one comes barreling through the mail slot just as you are heading out, guess which ship is going to win? ;)

This is something I have commented on many, many times. But again... As far as I can tell, NPC ships DO NOT see us and therefore do not make any efforts to avoid running into what they do not see. ;)

If that happens to me, I Save and Exit to Main Menu, then restart. That puts me10km away, and at worse, I only get a fine. ;)

Yeah, I've noticed that the NPC Belugas do not give way for anything, not even a Corvette or Cutter, or another Beluga.
Try leaving when a type-9 is coming in and you are near the slot before him. Almost had my corvette blasted. I will kill the game if that happens again.

Not true. Most ships yield to me in my FDL and Python. When I line up to fly into the station and I'm ahead of another NPC they always stop and wait for me. Likewise, the ships directly in my flight path inside the station will often wait until I clear the access corridor. The ONLY exceptions are Belugas. Tried taking off in my beta Anaconda and the moron just kept right on going, scraping my shields and never slowed down. Thankfully it was a glancing blow. I think the AI for those things needs some serious tweaking.

Actually no NPC gives way to my poor Corvette. Ever. Stupid Cobras try to fly inside the station right through me while the dispatch yells "Give way to a larger vessels!".

I        g AM the larger vessel!

I've noticed this behavior more since I got a larger ship - I now get told that there are ships in the slot, but that's all. If I see an NPC ship within 1 km of the slot, I just fly behind them to be safe.

yes, this is my usual experience as well. I never had a problem with NPCs while docking, as thy usually hold speed or wait, when the slot is occupied. Maybe the Beluga needs the additional speed as a workaround, to not get stuck by rotation.

And thanks Markoz, good tip. Will keep the losses low :)

I've saw it happen to a player Clipper last night, but he managed to get away just before the station got a bit upset.
