NPC Bullet Sponges

Dear God please don't make the NPCs bullet sponges. All this talk of suit shields during combat has me worried. I'm probably worrying over nothing I hope. Everything so far has me excited through the roof for this update!

It should depend on whether there is engineering, along with whatever module system will exist for suits. I am definitely not expecting anything close to Call of Duty kill times.

I'd hope the maximum TTK is significantly lower than the current ship shield stack meta.

I am also happy for it to be somewhat higher than most "realistic" shooters where every gun is equally lethal and kills in less than half a second. Which I find tedious.

Hopefully, it's balanced...

I know CQC is controversial but the limited experience I had with it felt pretty good from a TTK perspective. You could survive a fight but focused fire will take you out quite fast.

Felt about right as a base line for fps combat.

I'm sure they will draw on their extensive experiance of fps games to make a truely quality product ... 💩
I believe they hired specifically for this though.

I'd guess they'd have a pretty good idea. Perhaps more than us.

Infinity Ward have over a decade of experience creating fps games but I stopped buying them after cod 4 because they turned gash. 2015 games (the company that ultimately split off to make cod, created medal of honor allied assault) had very little comparative experience prior to that game and I'll still play it now from time to time. It's a classic.

Not really sure I follow your logic. Unless your logic is just doomsaying for the sake of it. In which case you carry on.

One-shotting players with a ship's missile system will be fun to try. :D
This is the only thing I'm seriously skeptical about (ship vs srv vs player vs ship game play).

If done right, it's a lot of fun (battlefield bad company 2 for example, loved that game; infantry can take down vehicles if they do it right). I just can't see how it could be done in ED considering how massively op ships can be.

Mines... that will be fun. Give them a sporting chance trying to spot the slowly falling (if low G) mines and trying to escape their blast radius.

Hell, this could be a fun thing to do with friends for a laugh. Last man standing sort of thing. Or given them an objective to reach while one person flies over dropping mines.

A very good point but, as you say, if done right it could be a lot of fun as I also enjoyed those games and if I fancied a change from solo mode, I could drop in to a faction war and help out now and then. And that's the thing which interests me: imagine player factions facing off and affecting the BGS with a ground war on some backwater lump of rock. It would appeal to a fair few I think and utilise the many forms of game play ED promises. :)
