Unless I've missed something - there is no way to communicate with NPCs. I like to do a bit of pirating, and NPC are often my target - it would be nice to be able to issue a communication telling them to jettison their cargo and get out of here if they don't want me to take it by force. It wouldn't need to be anything too involved - just a small selection of standard NPC communications that you could pick from.

Another addition could be comms chatter as an ambient sound besides the engine drone. It only needs to be partially recognisable words and phrases here and there, especially near stations where you can hear more distinct docking chatter. However, this does give more of a feeling that you're not entirely alone in the universe.
I did wonder why you don't actually get a voice to request docking and a reply to confirm of deny it and the pad number too (male or female voice to request depending on what you chose for your pilot). Or do people in that century no longer have voices?
